I use the timer on my phone it often starts at -2:30 minutes.
Why is that and how do I fix it?

Hi @msnadler. The Fitbit app on my phone does not offer a timer. I have to set it directly on my Fitbit. Could you please tell us which Fitbit do you have? And where exactly are you setting a timer? Thanks!

I’m sorry but I cannot help you, @msnadler. I use the iPhone Fitbit app - which does not have a timer in the app. Hopefully someone who uses the Fitbit app on an Android phone can help. A screen shot would really help.

I'm confused. I use the android fitbit app and there doesn't seem to be a timer in there either.
Could you perhaps give us a bit more information on what you are doing so we can understand where the problem is?

Hello @SteveH, @SunsetRunner, and @msnadler.
@SteveH and @SunsetRunner Thanks for being around to help.
@msnadler As mentioned above, could you offer a bit more insight into what is it that you are talking about? We'd like to take a closer look and understand so that we can help you.
Look forward to your reply.

i clearly did a poor job explaining the problem. Let me try again.
When i go for a walk, I open the App on my Android phone, I click on the weekly exercise box, then the little clock in the upper right. Then I click on the red circle with the white triangle. At this point, a stop watch appears to start timing me. But, rather than starting at 0:00 it starts at -2:30 or thereabouts. How do I fix this?

ok, so the feature you are using is MobileRun which uses the phone's GPS to track your walk and is usually used when you don't have your fitbit with you. According to the help file for this feature ( https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2099 ) you seem to be using it as recommended.
It's not something I have ever used but I tested it on my android tablet and although sometimes the start time was out by a second or two it was never out by a couple of minutes. I have had a quick look through the forums and can't find any other reports of this either. So, I'm struggling to offer any help with this. Perhaps @LanuzaFitbit or @SunsetRunner will be more familiar with this feature. I'm wondering if it has something to do with locking onto a GPS signal.
If you can't get it resolved then perhaps there are other ways to track your walk depending on what fitbit you have (assuming you are using a fitbit!) and so avoid the issue. What I tend to do with my walks is ... well, nothing!. I just wear my fitbit when I go walking and let the SmartTrack feature track my walk. It seems to accurately record the start time and although it doesn't use GPS, so it can't produce a map, I'm Ok with that.
If you are using a ionic, surge or versa then there are other ways of tracking using GPS that may get round your issue.

Thanks for that clarification.
I'd recommend that you try to check that your phone is running the latest version of the Fitbit app. You can click here to read more about it.
Additionally, you could also try tracking it directly through the Fitbit like @SteveH mentioned. You can click here to read more about how to track via your Fitbit.
Let me know if there are any further questions.
