Fitbit Update 10/26/2016: This issue has been fixed by updating to the Android app, version 2.36

To tidy up the Android board, I am closing this thread from further conversation. If this issue pops up again, please create a new post and reference this one. Thank you for your patience!

Fitbit Update 07/18/16: Several users have reported that they are unable to log pre-existing custom meals via the Android app, version 2.29 as the calories for the meal are missing when attempting to log. Check out my screenshots below.

I've sent the information over to our Product Specialist Team who've gotten this in front of our engineering team for further investigation. When I hear an update from them, I will make sure to share it with everyone here.

In the meantime, I suggest logging custom meals via the online Dashboard at Fitbit.com until this has been resolved.

I started using the charge Hr 2 days ago and it will not let me add custom foods? The 1st day I managed to add one food. I then went to add another. It let me add all the information for the food but when I pressed save it just disappeared and went back to the food log screen? I have tried this several times and it does the same thing over and over. Anyone have the same problem? Also I can't seem to add any meals, can you do this on the app?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Jo1170! 🙂

I just tried to add a custom food to my food log from the iPhone app and it did let me add it without any problem at all. After editing it I hit save and it asked me for what time I ate it and after you log it, it should appear in the Custom Foods list. If this is not happening for you, I would recommend logging out and logging back in to the app and see if it works after doing that.

Also, for custom meals, this is not something your can currently do directly from the app. You will need to go to fitbit.com/foods/log from your computer and if you look at the right side of the screen, you'll see Food Stats, Favorites and Foods as you can see below:

                                              Food log Right column.jpg

Here you can choose t he option that says "Create a meal" and start creating it and once you've saved it, it should appear on the custom foods section on the app as well.

Hope this helps and if you need more help with this, let me know! 🙂

Thanks Ferdinand for your tip on adding the custom meals, will have a look at this on the computer. I have since tried adding other custom foods on the app and these have worked fine. However I've also tried adding the same one as before a few times and it just will not add! It is less than 100 calories, would this make any difference?

Hmmm that shouldn't make a difference @Jo1170. I'd recommend logging out and back into your account and see if this makes any difference.

I cannot add custom food from my iPhone app as of the newest update. Please fix this.

Hello @DavideFitbit and @FerdinandFitbit

I encounter the same problem when trying to add a new food.

After adding food and entering all the nutritional information (from the website, using Chrome on a computer), I get a message saying the food was added and that I will find it in the food search.

But I don't.

After disconnecting it still doesn't appear. After 3 days neither. Is there a validation that has to be done to verify the accuracy of the information entered causing it a delay? It's annoying, we spend time entering all the information and then it's not made available to us....

I see your replies to this topic are at least 8 months old, but the bug remains. Any fix of this issue coming up soon?

Thanks,

Hi again @FerdinandFitbit and @DavideFitbit

A minute after writing my past post I found the foods entered. They are not available when I search the food list but they are saved on my account. In the "Favorites" section I will find them if I click on "Edit my foods". Then I will get a list of the foods I have created and by clicking on one of those I will have the opportunity to log it.

Hoping this can help other new Fitbit users like me.

With the update rolled out last night -- Logginig a custom meal no longer crashes the app, however it does NOT log the meal.  (Nexus 5).  PLEASE get this fixed.

(I posted this a couple of days ago, but a moderator moved my post to a different thread, so wanted to raise this here again.)

@dRdR @SunsetRunner Sorry to hear about the difficulty with logging your custom meal from the app. I am interested in investigating this a bit further, can you help me out by sharing screenshots of the whole custom meal logging process so I can see exactly what you're seeing? That will be super useful to show to our engineers! Thank you in advance!

Erick,

I've attached screenshots.  Using a Nexus 5 (Android ver. 6.0.1) and Fitbit app 2.29.  I've rebooted the phone, and I've also uninstalled and reinstalled the Fitbit app.  Same behavior.  It acts normal, but never actually logs the custom meal.  I've checked the web as well to be sure that it isn't truly logging it but just not displaying it in the app, but no -- it doesn't log the meal at all.

Choose custom meal...

... press Log This...

And it goes to the Food screen, but nothing has been logged:

I can't even get to the screen to add food. Whenever I touch calories in vs out, it just shows me the amount of calories burned for the day. Why is this app always so glitchy?? Very frustrating.

@Lasers Try clicking the "calories left" tile as I explain in this post. Let me know if that helps.

Also, in the meantime I suggest logging custom meals via the online Dashboard food log. More to come!
