I have a charge 3 and use a Samsung S10e. I noticed on a couple of occasions last week that the GPS map for bike and walk show as straight red lines on the map when finishing the exercise, one even suggested I had walked a fair distance over a large body of water and ended up in a town at the other side! This has only happened since the latest update on both the charge and the phone. Prior to this tracking activity using the GPS showed a fairly accurate red line route on the map. I have tried today and started a short walk by waiting for GPS to connect first then setting off. As soon as the phone screen goes off the charge vibrates to show GPS is off. As soon as I open the fitbit app the GPS goes on again. Soon as I put the phone back in my pocket GPS goes off. So it is not staying connected unless I keep the app open which isn't practical at all. This worked fine prior to updates and I have not changed any settings on the phone or the app so don't know why this problem has suddenly occured. When walking or cycling I can't keep the screen on on the phone and the app open obviously. It should stay connected during the course of the exercise. I've looked at various settings and all seems ok so can't understand why this is suddenly happening.

Welcome to the Forums @jcf224.
Thanks for taking the time to share all of those details on the matter.
In this case I'd like to recommend that you check if there is any battery saving mode turned on. If it is, please try turning it off when you are going to track your activity. That should help in getting it to not stop.
Keep me posted on how it goes or if you have any further questions.

Same problem here with Fitbit versa and Hiawei P10.
Batery saving mode is turned off, so what else might solve this problem?

I have the exact same problem here with a Fitbit Charge 2 and Samsung Galaxy S7. All suggested troubleshooting didn't help. It started about the time around the last update of the android app. So I assume it has to do with something they changed with that. Hope they fix it soon.

Hello @SunsetRunner and @jcf224. Welcome to the Forums @IevaĢ.
Thanks for checking if there was any battery saving feature turn on that could be causing this.
If possible, do you have any other apps that would use GPS data while the phone's screen is turned off? If so, could you try using that to check of the locations services are also turned off with other apps.
I look forward to your replies.

Hello Lanuza,
I made sure no battery saving feature is active and no other app is using location service. From my recent workout recordings I can see that the issue started pretty much around the time the android app received the update to version 2.92. Unfortunately, today's update on android to app version 2.93 didn't solve the issue. So it seems your developers aren't aware of thr issue or haven't been able to address it yet.

Hello @SunsetRunner and @IevaĢ. Welcome to the Forums @just2bhealthy.
Thanks for sharing all of those details and reaching back to me with those details on the update @SunsetRunner.
In that case I'd like to ask you to go into the application settings on your phone. There, look for the Fitbit app and then look into the permissions that are turned on. Make sure that the app has permission to access GPS information.
Keep me posted on how it goes or if you have any further questions.

I'm also experiencing this problem - seems more and more likely to be the fitbit app since it's update.
I did actually have a power-saving feature enabled at first, but I have verified over several days now, that this problem occurs without the psf enabled.
I also have verified that my other GPS-using apps are all accessing GPS normally and accurately.
I am using a Charge 2 and Samsung S9+ and Location permissions are granted to the app (no GPS permissions listed)

My GPS Permissions are on, no power saving mode, other tracking apps ie Google maps and Nike Run Club are working fine but Fit Bit has my map wrong and is shorting my distance by a mile plus daily.

I'm having the same issue on Pixel 3. I downgraded to 2.91 and its working again (had to grab it from a*p*kmirror). At one point since then it looks like it reinstalled the latest version through the Play store again? so I had to downgrade once again.
I opened a ticket with FitBit but they don't seem to be able to comprehend anything I tell them and their responses to emails are always generic as if written by a bot.

Can anybody else confirm that? For me that would be totally fine. GPS logging is the only function I want.

It supports the theory that the problem started with the update around end of April. I think it would be even better if they fixed it with another update rather than having to stick with an old version which might have other issues that we're not aware of (security issues at worst).

Hello everyone!
Thanks for continuing to share all of your experiences on the situation.
I'd like to ask all of you that are experiencing this issue to share the following information:
- The phone that this is happening on.
- Then Android version that the phone is running.
- The Fitbit App version that you have installed.
Having this information will be useful to know what might be happening and what is the best way to move ahead.
I look forward to your replies.

Google Pixel 3
Android 9.0
Charge 3
Currently NO ISSUES with 2.91 (downgraded via Android package mirror site)
GPS Issues with 2.92 GA and whatever beta beta versions came out in the last few weeks.
FitBit appears to connect when app is in foreground but stops working when changing apps or turning off screen. Notification no longer shows up with GPS Connected. This looks like an issue maintaining background process on latest versions (that did not exist in 2.91). No Android settings have any effect.
