Saving battery life feature request

The back light feature sucks up battery power. Even with the auto feature the battery only last 3 days. By turning the back light off completely my battery last for almost 6 days.
Is it possible to add a feature that the I can have the the auto feature turn on at let's say 6pm and off at midnight? The rest of the day it would be off. I don't need back light during the day.
I know it would mean a software and firmware upgrade but I think it will benefit everyone.
