I have a Fitbit Charge HR that was given to me by a friend who has purchased a new Fitbit. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S6 which appears to be compatible with the app. I have been trying to set up my new device. During the set up process, the app indicates it has found my device, and the 4-digit code appears on my Fitbit. When I input the 4-digit code into the app, the app indicates the Fitbit is connecting, but it stays like this continuously without ever connecting. I have tried to troubleshoot this by exploring solutions on the Fitbit site and forums. I have tried all of the following several times and in the order recommended on the Fitbit site:
-Turning the phone’s Bluetooth off and on again
-Turning my Fitbit off and on again (as per the instructions on the Fitbit site)
-re-booting my phone
-ensuring location services and all permissions for the Fitbit app are set up properly
-removing and re-installing the Fitbit app
-Connecting my Fitbit on my Bluetooth enables laptop with Fitbit connect (same result-I get the 4-didgit code but the “connecting” phase never completing)
The one suggestion I have seen on the Fitbit site that I haven’t been able to complete is updating the Fitbit’s firmware. It appears my Fitbit need to be set up in my app before I can do that (and my issue is that I can’t set up my device in the first place).
I would be grateful for any other suggestions or advice.

Has your friend been around while you were doing all this? I'm wondering if their phone was close by and still has a bluetooth connection in the phone's settings that may be blocking connection to your phone.
