Should I upgrade my Moto G6 to Android 9.0 Pie?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have a Versa that is working very well with my unlocked Moto G6 on Android 8.0 (solid syncing, reliable notifications, HR, steps, exercise, weather, etc).  I don't use the music apps or track runs, so I can't say how reliable those are with my phone.  I get constant reminders to update to Android 9.0, but I don't want to mess anything up.

Any Moto G6 owners out there using Android 9.0 without problems?

Thanks!

Glenn

Hello @Glennster it's nice to see you again participating here in the Community Forums, welcome back! Let me answer your doubts.

I'm happy to know that your Fitbit device is working as the way it was designed with the Android 8.0. Please take in consideration that if you don't have the latest Android version on your Motorola Moto G6, all the applications that are installed in your phone can be affected because it's always recommendable to keep the platform, apps and electronic devices up to date in order to receive bug fixes and improvements.

Let me share with you that the Motorola Moto G6 is not currently listed a compatible device with our products and services. I'm aware that some users are able to use non-compatible mobile devices, however, we cannot ensure a proper function of all your Fitbit features due to this compatibility concern and Fitbit app, Android and your Fitbit device updates.

Let me know if you have any additional questions. I'll be around. Smiley Happy

Hey Ricardo.  Don't worry, you're covered if I don't update, and I'm well aware that my Moto g6 isn't on the exclusive list of fully approved phones that everyone in these forums loves so much 🙂  I was actually hoping to hear from someone in the community who has a Moto G6 with Andriod 9.0 Pie on it.  Any sync problems or notification problems?  To others out there: Andriod 8.0 works really well on my phone.

You're welcome @Glennster your reply is appreciated. Sorry for the delay in responding your post.

I'd like to let you know that I'm using a Huawei P20 to sync my Ionic device, however, one friend of mine used a Motorola Moto G4 and is currently using the Motorola Moto G6 to sync a Fitbit Versa that has Android Pie 9.0, with no difficulties. Hopefully someone else here in the Community Forums can give us more information about this specific mobile device.

Thanks for the feedback - that's what I was looking for.  It's only one day, but my Versa is syncing great with my Moto G6 on Andriod 9.0 Pie including notifications & weather.  I'm not a jogger so I won't test the tracking runs with Strava.  Hope that helps others.

Blessings

Hey @RicardoFitbit Thanks for the help.  One more question: My Versa does not show up in my list of bluetooth devices on my phone.  Should I reconnect it even though it is working?  I'd like to use it with Smart Unlock.  Blessings!

Your prompt reply and update are appreciated as well @Glennster, my apologies for the delay in replying,

I'm happy to know that your Versa is working as the way we designed it with your Motorola G6, thanks for the details that were shared with me. Seems odd that your Versa device isn't showing on the list of Bluetooth devices on your phone, this may affect the notifications feature, however, since you're receiving notifications with no difficulty, I'd recommend you to reconnect it only if you're going to use the connected-GPS feature while tracking an exercise.

Don't hesitate to contact me back if you require further assistance, I'll be here.
