I suppose there was an update. The app presents sleep data differently.  Have others noticed this?

I miss seeing how long episodes of awake, light, REM and deep sleep are

I am completely new to this fitbit world. Currently, I am facing some issue with wrong sleep duration for everyday because of "false/fake awake" period detected during every sleep stages.

I have explained the problem in detail -  here. Can someone please help me with it? Is everyone facing the same issue ?

yes, Fitbit (Google) released a new version of the app. Besides the Sleep
app graph no longer reads the same, other functions have also broken.

MANY are indicating they are warranty'ing out their watches, many are
simply throwing them away (like I am, as I never want the frustration of
the new app). Many have found the functions are slowing disappearing and
some no longer work.

As Fitbit has been silent on the life expectancy of Fitbit watches, the
theory from MANY owners is that Google is killing off the Fitbit in favor
of the Pixel watch (which is actually worse).

If it is new enough, a return may be prudent.

Truth. There are a legion of us.

It’s much worse than that. They apparently do NOT look at what their “Community” cares about.

That’s really NOT a “Community”.

They ARE goodie! Also Hideous 😡

Goofie!

NOT Goodie! Sorry, couldn’t figure out how to edit the prior post.

I do not like the newer version of displaying sleep data. It is not an improvement. I wish we could still have the old screen.

Agree - hate the new app

@caryleej You said everything I am feeling. The main reason I bought a Fitbit was for the sleep tracking. I have a sleep disorder, and the old format made it easy to scan through my sleep record for the month between visits with my sleep doctor. Now Fitbit is useless to me. No matter how many complaints they get. They are basically flipping us off and telling us to deal with it. They also say that they cannot go back. That is a lie. A few days ago, I opened the sleep feature, the old format was back. All the previous days showed like they used to. I took a screenshot in case the restore was an accident (it was). The record was up to date, showing all the weeks they took away. The next day, it was back to the useless version. I am done with Fitbit. They don't care about the needs or wishes of their customers at all. They just force their useless piece of what used to be a good technology. You can bet whatever device I choose will have no connection to Google (until they buy it off and ruin it as well). I have narrowed down some choices, one of which showing sleep stats similar to how Fitbit USED to show it. I'm going to see what more I can find out about that watch. Hopefully they will be more customer friendly than Google. Below is the screenshot of the one day I had what they claimed they cannot do.

@RabDog. I get everyone's responses as well. You can bet whatever replacement device I buy, it will have NO connection to Google. Every one of their "upgrades" are major downgrades. Ever since they took over, one by one they have taken away features that used to be free. They have also changed formats of what is still there, so that they are less useful. Add to that, they are forcing us to use only Google mail instead of whatever our emails have been since we started.

I feel your pain. We all do. Your screenshot does not show up in your posts. Also, when you make your final choice or final top two, we'd all love to hear what you chose because we're all trying to shop for new ones as well. Since most people are jumping ship one at a time Google's never going to understand what they've done because they won't see an impact with such a small number. Good luck to you. We look forward to hearing what you chose and why.

We all hear your pain. When you narrow it down to one or two or your final choice of a new smartwatch, please advise us since most of us with sleep issues are in need of a watch that is at least equal to the old version.

In the old iPhone app I was able to expand and investigate the sleep app to see it more clearly with the times of start and stop and cycles but it won’t rotate anymore.  They took a decent app and totally messed it up.  It’s pretty useless now.  I’m assuming (don’t know) that it’s better if you “pay” for the premium but I refuse to waste any more money.

I am a technology consultant so extremely analytical. My core interest is a
Health Tracker (not necessarily a Fitness Tracker). The SLEEP TRACKING
portion of health is important.

After MUCH evaluation, and consideration of wearing something on my wrists
all the time, I went with the Oura ring. In test evaluations, if FAR
outdistances Fitbit and others devices for HEALTH tracking

I absolutely hate what Google did to the sleep tracker!

Is anyone else having this issue?  I have sleep problems which is one of the main reasons I bought my Luxe.  Previously, if I went to bed at 10 pm and awoke sporadically through the night until 6 am, the graph and stats produced by the Luxe showed that as one night's sleep with intermittent waking.  Now it shows half of my sleep (anything before midnight) for the prior day, and half of it (after midnight) for the current day.  It also breaks up my sleep into chunks and only shows a graph for the longest or latest chunk (not sure which as those two are usually one and the same for me).  This is utterly useless for me.  Is there any way to get the old data back?

Even on this horrible re-worked app you can go in and edit your sleep. Click on the three dots and then adjust your sleep time. Don’t forget to save before going back to the screen. Even if it’s split your sleep into two, you can delete one bit and adjust the other.

The sleep graph is a confusing mess. It's difficult to read and doesn't show the specific times of awake/restless, light, deep, and REM. Basically its mostly useless. I rely on this feature every single morning. It played a large part in my decision to purchase the product. Fitbit promotes healthy and for me, its less than healthy to start every day stressed out and irritated that I need to attempt to decipher a chart that used to be so easy to understand. Please bring back the old graphs. Jeez, Fitbit, what were you thinking?

Best Answer

I agree!  I really don’t like the change either. I have been rather disappointed in the changes since google took over Fitbit with all the arbitrary changes.

Has anybody seen any reply from Google on this? It has been a long time since the sleep function disfunction, wondering if there is any effort to fix it.

Not a chance!
