Sleep hours calculation incorrect

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have severe sleep problems. I manually track my hours asleep. I had a Charge 3 which never calculated my sleep hours correctly. It appeared that MN was a trouble spot. I bought a Charge 4 hoping the calculations would be corrected in the new Fitbit.

It appears Fitbit does not look at my hours in SETUP, which I entered as 1830 for day 1 going to sleep before MN and 1000 day 2 for waking up after MN.  I am awake multiple times during "my night"  but try to get at least 8 hours total sleep during the 16.5 hours I entered in setup in Charge 4 and Charge 3. I now have the update.

Now, my Charge 4 adds hours for my new night sleep with hours from last night sleep because I woke up before MN and slept less than 3 HOURS. EXAMPLE I was asleep 11 hours 16 minutes for last night and slept 2 hours 30 minutes today. The APP totaled the hours as 13 hours 46 minutes under sleep for yesterday, and not as my new night of sleep.

A possible solution would be to use the hours I entered in setup as a night of sleep totally and add all the hours during that time as one night of sleep. Or ask me,the user, at the time of review, where I want to add hours that are outside the setup hours entered by me the user.

FYI l absolutely love Fitbit graphs and data about sleep. I need to know data for hours I am asleep less than 3 hours. I have a medical sleep issue. When I sleep, I use a VPAP machine with an oxygen concentrator. I was dx at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Sleep is a big deal for me and having accurate sleep data is important, and the reason I purchased the Charge 4 for the more accurate program update. Thank you in advance.

Also, is Fitbit Premium a separate product, not connected to the purchase of Charge 3 or Charge 4?

Update 07/17/2020: My Charge 4 still does not calculate the sleep hours correctly, but it has become better. Yea Fitbit! When it strings out my multiple awake times, I write down all the times associated with that sleep period(night) which I then delete. I try to use the entry which crosses MN and EDIT it's start hour or end hour to include all the separate sleep hours Fitbit had created.

Simple Eg. My time to begin sleep and end sleep logs are "2000 to 2200" and "2300 to 0400". I delete the "2000 to 2200 sleep log" and edit "2300 to 0400 sleep log" so that the new edited sleep log reads as "2000 to 0400" from July 1st to July 2nd, containing my correct total hours of sleep, at 8 hours for one night, which is correct at this point. It is an awkward work-around but is more accurate when I review my extended history. Plus, if I don't do this I, may have 2 or 3 sleep scores for one night, which is the correct score? By editing, there is only 1 sleep score per night per sleep log with the new correct number of sleep hours on one line. I hope this helps. It's good for me.

Thank you. PS I would welcome any opportunity to speak with anyone about the calculation problem. TY. My phone is listed 843-450-0305. C E Banks Jr at rad2b1@gmail.com

I am having the same issue with my charge 3. It calculates hours incorrectly.  Sometimes if separates hours into two logs. At other times I  have to waif hours after I wake to see anything and get the wear app to bed message. Also monitor due to sleep apnea. Truly annoying. Hope you get your problem resolved.  I just called fidbit but due to corona long wait. May not even have anyone working from home now.
