Sleep not logged

I use my versa to log sleep. I wore my versa last night as usual, but it didn't log my sleep at all.

The tile says to wear the Fitbit to sleep to track sleep.

Any advice please?

Hello @Sarah_A_.

I'll be more than happy to help you figure out what is going on with the sleep tracking!

There are several reasons why this could be happening. When you wear your Versa to sleep it will use two indicators to determine if you are sleeping or if you are awake. These indicators are the following:

  • Your HR comes down when you go to sleep.
  • You stop moving as much when you sleep.

Keeping those in mind we could determine why the sleep is not  being tracked. If your HR doesn't come down when you are asleep it would cause your Fitbit to think that you are awake. This can happen because of stress, over-eating before going to sleep, or because of movement in your sleep.

As a rule of thumb, I'd recommend that you try to clean the HR sensor regularly with a damp piece of cloth and then drying it. Dust particles or other debris could get stuck between your skin and the sensor and cause reading to not be accurate or for the Fitbit to not track anything at all.

As for the movement, if you move a lot during your sleep for some reason then it could lead to sleep not being tracked. If the night was too hot or cold it could cause you to move around, or if you aren't getting comfortable. In addition to that, if you sleep with a fan or an open window the wind could hit the Fitbit and cause it to believe that you are moving around.

As general tips I'd recommend that you try tightening your Fitbit's strap before going to sleep to make sure the HR reading is optimal and also to take some time to wind down before going to sleep.

I hope you find this useful and that it explains what might be happening.

If none of the above could be the cause please let me know. I look forward to your reply.

Hello @lhoselton.

Thanks for your reply. I'll be happy to tell you.

The HR sensor on the Alta HR is the lights that blink on the bottom of the Fitbit. They are located on the side that goes against your skin.

I hope my post is helpful! Let me know if there are any other questions I can help you with.

My hr inspire is brand new - just started it up yesterday -and all seemed to be working fine, but my sleep was not logged.  The flex 2 did this automatically right away.  This is more expensive and not working!  I got it mainly for sleep tracking.  None of you posted "solutions" apply or work.

Does restlessness explain why on some occasions, my fitbit doesn't record all my sleep.

The watch recognised when I fell asleep last night. But had me awake for 40 minutes. I remember looking at the time before the "second" sleep started, but I don't remember being awake for 40 minutes before that point.

Thanks

I had trouble with the sleep not logging and found somehow both bedtime and waketime were both set to am in the app. Reset the bedtime to pm and it works fine now.
