SpO2 app is installed but Fitbit app denies

ANSWERED

I just got my charge 6 and noticed that there's no SpO2 reading inside the app. While looking into the detail page, there's a note asking me to install the SpO2 App and if I click on it, I'm linked to SpO2 tracker app that's designated for sense 2.

This is what I see when I go to learn more:

If I reinstall the preinstalled SpO2 App, the reading shows up. This is the 2nd day it's acting like that. Any Idea why this is happening?

Just installed the new app version on my iPad - same message 'please install the SpO2 app on your smart watch'.

@LakeladyNC That's great news! I'm glad the SpO2 app is working well and I hope you can keep crushing your goals.

It works one day and not the next. I did the update and it worked, then 2
days later it didn't work.

Still having the same issues as everyone else on my Versa 4. Saying installed on one screen, saying need installed but not available on another. Tried everything told too and still nothing. Very frustrating.

Just updated it and still getting the same regarding the need to install the app. Says on one screen it's installed and on another it's not available and not compatible. I have the Versa 4 and one reason I upgraded from the Versa 2 was for the SpO2.

So problem not fixed yet.

This answer from April is tagged as the best answer , yet the June messages show that there is no answer.

There is no answer, best or worst.

Fitbit is just ignoring the issue and its customers.

I assume Google is winding down Fitbit brand products in favor of pixel watch?

You'd be a fool to buy another Fitbit given the total lack of support.

Thanks for confirming what I was wondering, I'm a fool for buying a Charge
6 earlier this month 🙂😂
What is even more interesting is that I spent time with a person from the
call center figuring out how to install the app. The call center person did
not know this was a known issue.

Hello, I have had exactly the same issue as others. I have reinstalled the app about 5 or so times now. Each time it works for a few days and then I wake up to a notification that some data is missing in my sleep SpO2 measurement. On following the steps I get the install the app instruction and do so. It installs and the next night I get data again.
might I humbly suggest this is a bug with the app and not about tens of users failing to follow simple instructions to install something. If it was that it would never work! Certainly in my experience it works fine and then somehow uninstalls itself. Might I request you get your app team to investigate that fault and fix it please…

Hello @TArmour

I saw a Moderator post today (23 Jul 2025) acknowledging the issue with the SpO2 feature and that the team is working on a fix to the problem. However, there isn't a timeline yet for when the fix will be implemented.

For now, you can submit your issue using the Feedback option in the Fitbit app:

  • Tap on your picture/avatar in the upper right of the Today page in the Fitbit app
  • Tap on Feedback in the menu that opens
  • Complete the prompts and submit

The feedback reports are received by the team for review.

This is still an ongoing issue. Broken on my Charge 5 and Samsung phone last few days.

Get the message on phone app about spo2 not installed.

Agree! It is horrible. I bought a new watch thinking my old one was just
old and a new would certainly have the app updated and working. Wrong!

Exact same issue her with my Versa 4 since a few days. SpO2 app not working even after a factory reset. Asking to install the SpO2 app then mentioning it is not for my watch model.

I just purchased a charge 6 August 10th '25 USA and I get the same message page saying that I must install the app but it says "not available". What do I do?

After a few days, SpO2 is working again (without installing a new app).

So you are saying I should just wait a few days and it will start working?

This morning, I had the SpO2 data but no sleep data. The altimeter for the number of floors indicates 94 (!!!) after a 5 km walk on the flat. I think my watch is just dying after only two years. If the SpO2 of your watch does not work, maybe you should try to get a replacement.

I just purchased a Charge 6 and subscribed to premium. I'm having the exact same problem.  I also can't find the word "Gallery" anywhere on the page after clicking on the Device Icon on the Today screen. I go to a page that doesn't show Gallery?  The SPO2 App issue is the most pressing at the moment. It is the main reason I bought the Fitbit, and if I can't make it work it's going back to Amazon.

I'm having the same issue. Google's AI Gemini said this about it:

Yes, the SpO2 feature is available for the Charge 6, but it seems you're encountering a known software bug that many users have experienced. The "Not Available" label despite the feature's compatibility and your attempts to install it is a common issue.

The Problem

This is a recurring bug that has affected Charge 6 users. The app sometimes displays an "Install" button and then a "Not Available" message, even when the SpO2 app is already installed or should be available for your device. This can be very confusing, as it seems to be an issue with the app itself, not your device or its capabilities.
