Spotify on new Fitbit devices?

I'm looking at getting a new fitbit (my charge 2 has served me well for like 6 or 7 years). I've heard horror stories about the charge 5, so I'm deciding between versa 4 and sense 2.

I've read posts about how neither has official spotify support, but apparently (at least on the sense 2) you can forward "notifications" to the phone? And get partial play/pause/next support? Does anyone use this, on either the versa 4 or the sense 2? It seems to be android only, which is fine, I use android.

I don't need a full immersive spotify experience. I don't need to manage playlists, browse artists, or mark songs as favorites, on my wrist. I can do that on my phone just fine. I just want basic media controls!

It is true that the Sense 2 and Versa 4 no longer support Spotify. I have never tried to set up Spotifiy notifications to see if it works on the Sense 2. I can tell you it used to work exactly as you described it with the Fitbit Charge 5. However, at some point it no longer worked. So I cannot say for sure it will work with the Sense 2. Guy and parker do make a good point. The Fitbit Sense is still available for purchase and this one does offer Spotify connection and native music control. Evaluate which features you would like and decide for the Fitbit device that meets these.

@slimmy0 why do you want to make your life harder? Original Sense can control Spotify via Spotify app and built-in music controls. I got rid of my Sense 2 and went back to Sense. If music controls is a crucial feature then pick device that can actually do it.

Hi @slimmy0  - in addition to what @t.parker rightly says, watches prior to the Sense 2 and Versa 4 have built in Music Controls which can control any music playing on your phone without needing an app or Spotify premium, in addition it can control the volume and doesn't require that you stop any other app or clock face to do it.

It is best to get the watch which suits your needs especially as the user interface and functionality on the Sense 2 and Versa 4 is not nearly as useful as that on prior watches.
