Step Count Different in Challenges

Hi everyone, 

I'm doing 2 different workweek hustle challenges with 2 different groups of friends and my total step count shows as different numbers in each challenge. One shows the correct number, say 21,387 but the other says in only at 18,243. There shouldn't be a difference for my total count for the week. Has anyone experienced this?

Were both challenges started on same time zone?  They start at midnight for the originator.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

In the group where my steps are short we do have one person who lives in Arizona, I hour of from my time zone, but even early in the morning when no one has walked much yet, if at all, it will show two different step counts for me, when you'd think everything would have evened out by then. It's bizarre.
