Step Counting without Fitbit

I work in an office building that no longer allows fitness trackers of any kind.  Is there a way to track step using the Fitbit App on my phone or an outside app that will push to the Fitbit App?  The Samsung Health App on my phone automatically tracks my steps but it's not authorized to push to the Fitbit App.  Please Help!

Hi there @TammyWhit, it's nice to have new members in the Fitbit Community! I see you are in difficult position due to you are not allow to use your tracker at your work. I have been in a few jobs where have in place similar measurements about electronic devices.

The only alternative I can think of, is to use the feature of MobileTrack. This let you use the Fitbit app without a Fitbit tracker by using your phone's sensors to track basic activity data including steps, distance, and calories burned. The downside of this is that not all supported mobile device are capable to run this feature. So it will depend of the brand and model of  your mobile phone, you can use the following link of Compatible devices to learn if your device is compatible with this feature.

Samsung Health app indeed is not a compatible integration, however you can also create a manual activity to have an average of your steps during the day, in addition you can use the information from Health app as a reference to create your manual entry in your Fitbit account with more real numbers.

  1. On the Fitbit app dashboard tap the Exercise tile to open your exercise history. This is the tile that says "Track exercise" or shows how many days you've worked out this week.
  2. Tap the stopwatch icon in the top right corner.
  3. Tap Log Previous.
  4. Adjust the activity details and tap Log It.

Hope these tips provide you some help and let me know if you have more questions.
