Swim calculation incorrect.

I use the Google Pixel Watch 3 and sync to my Fitbit Android app on my Google Pixel 8 Pro phone.  The swim pool length set on my watch is 25 yards.  I swim 30 laps.  Note 1 lap is 2 lengths.  When the data is synced to the Fitbit app, the app shows all 30 laps but the calculation shows 750 yards total swam.  The correct calculation in the Fitbit app should show 25 yards X 2 lengths X 30 laps = 1500 yards.  Please correct this calculation.

Hi, @Lois_ _ welcome to the community. I'm a daily swimmer using an Inspire 3 (and sometimes a PW2) and a Pixel 8pro in a 25-metre pool. This is today's swim -

1 "lap" is one "Length" of the pool. How long is your pool?

Let us know.

Cheers

I swim 60 lengths in a 25 yard length pool which calculates to 1500 yards.  My pixel watch has a setting for the length of the pool which I enter as 25 yards.  When I sync my swim to the Fitbit app on my android phone, the swim in Fitbit is labeled as laps and not lengths and will display 30 laps and 750 yards total.  My workouts are consistently the same and the Fitbit app consistently shows 30 laps.  There appears to be a disconnect between the Google watch and the Google Fitbit app.  I am guessing that the watch is sending the number of round trips but the Fitbit is using that number as lengths swam to do the calculation.

Hi, @Lois_ Thanks for your feedback, I'll try & replicate your problem tomorrow using 27 yards as my pool length (25 metres =27.34 yards). It works correctly with metres, I can only suppose there's a glitch in the "Yards" setting, though it's surprising that no one else has commented.

Cheers

Hi, @Lois_ This morning's swim using my PW2 with the pool length set at 27 yards produces this entry on my Pixel 8 Pro -

27 yards was the pool length setting x 150 = gives 3703 metres. I had suspected you were experiencing a multiplication error with the "Yards" setting but that does not seem to be the case (with my PW2).

What next?

  1. On your PW3, go to the Play Store app>swipe up to the very bottom>manage apps>update. This will ensure all your apps are up to date on your PW3. You may be aware that the PW does not automatically update apps (at least on the PW2).
  2. On your phone, go to Settings > System > Software updates > System update. This is to check you are on the most recent update; if not up to date, update.
  3. Now restart your PW3 and go to the Fitbit app on your Pixel 8 Pro, settings>apps>Fitbit>force stop> clear cache>restart your phone.
  4. Try swimming again & report your result by posting here again.
  5. If you continue to experience your problem, the final frontier is to now Sync your Fitbit, delete the Fitbit app on your phone. Restart your phone & reload the Fitbit app & log in with your Google account. Now, Factory reset your PW. When you restart your Watch, you will be offered the option to use a saved backup. Do not use this as it may contain the root of your problem. Go through the quite lengthy "virgin watch" setup.
  6. Try swimming again & report your result by posting here again.

I hope this helps

Cheers

Edited this morning, I apologise for confusing the Watch with the phone restart procedure. I appreciate that using Length and Lap to mean the same metric might be an issue for you.

Cheers

Hi, @Lois_, I've just re-read my last post. For the sake of clarity, may I just repeat 1 "Length" is the same as 1 "Lap". I swim 150 lengths.

Cheers
