Until Fitbit changes things, it has a 30 day memory m and if they do use the phone for short term storage, I wonder what the limit will be .
I hope all have added your votes to the request

Actually, I don't really need the fitbit to actually "sync" to my phone. All I want to do is view the data the fitbit has collected via the fitbit app dashboard. If the fitbit can store 30 days worth of data, that is a bonus. I was only looking for 7 days. Once the internal fitbit memory is full, it can overwrite the oldest information. Seeing as I have returned my fitbit, is there any point in me voting?? I find it odd that designers haven't even considered this and that this feature is "not planned".
Update:
Another thing, this problem is not "solved"; I still "can't sync without an internet connection". This ticket should remain open until users can "sync without an internet connection".

This thread is not a request or a ticket, but simply a conversation between Fitbit users in the community.
As for why @Daisysdad marked it solved, you'll need to ask him .

How stupid. Sounds like an excuse for FB to collect data to me.
Why not allow syncing to the phone WITHOUT an internet connection so current data can be monitored, then when an internet connection becomes available, upload to the servers.
That description is not actually correct. The Fitbit tracker does not connect with the phone via the Internet - it connects to the phone via Bluetooth - and it does not download any data to the phone - the app connects to the Fitbit tracker via Bluetooth to pull data off of it, and transmits it to the Fitbit servers via the Internet. The data is never stored on the phone. When the sync is completed, and the app Dashboard is opened, the fields are populated from the Fitbit servers, again no data is stored on the phone. As the system specs state: "Syncing requires Bluetooth LE and Internet connection."

Hi there everyone and thank you for sharing your concerns and suggestion about the possibility to sync offline or without the need of Internet.
Despite the great help and information shared by @Rich_Laue and @USAF-Larry I saw there are still some concerns, in why this has not be implemented. So I wanted to step in to clarify some points.
The first and most important is the security. I understand having your information online is a delicate matter and we take this very seriously. You can rest assured we do not store any personal data that could represent a harm to your personal integrity. The data from your accounts, as it was mentioned earlier, is encrypted and well stored in our servers . For more details refer to our help article: How can I help secure my Fitbit account and data?
Now, into other details, your Fitbit trackers are capable to store data without the need of being connected. All trackers have the ability to store at least 7 days of detailed minute-by-minute data. Summary data (calories, distance, and steps) will be stored for the trailing 30 days.
However, beyond the social environment and the different communities in place or the option to shared with your friends, the data stored by your trackers need to go through our servers to be compiled and return your results in your Fitbit Dashboards in the way you are able to see. Also this is a requirement for different features that provide your Fitbit device and also to have a connected environment. Where regardless of the device you are using to sync, you can hook up in a computer or any other device with your personal accounts and have the same information that you have in your mobile app or viceversa.
There was a feature suggestion with a similar question. I would like to recommend to review this suggestion for the latest update provided regarding this topic: Allow Offline syncing / Store data locally.
Thank you @Daisysdad for clarifying why it was marked as a solution ths thread and for visiting our Community one more time.
See you all until the next opportunity and don't forget to keep a freindly enviroment.

Well, battery is low on Fitbit and nothing on screen. You still want to see data.

Hi @Terface52 yes your phone does not need to use wifi to sync, a sync can happen through cellular network.
A sync takes the data from the tracker and puts this data onto the cloud server. So yes, your phone needs an internet connection to sync thr tracker.

This is nonsense. Fitbit admitted to me in 2016, long before Google, that they're trackers and watches send the data directly to their servers.
The app then syncs the data from their server. This is the way it's been from day one. Google had nothing to do with it.
Google of course wanted this private health info which is why the wanted Fitbit. This was the easiest and cheapest way get access to it.

I asked Fitbit how their tracker works a long time ago because I had issues with using two devices. They told me the behavior of the trackers and devices after some back and forth of them not wanting to say how it works. Go find my posts.
I questioned their security since they were sending the MAC address of the tracker over the internet each time you connected your account to the app. They assured me, of course without evidence, that the information is secure.
Google and my presidential choice have nothing to do with this. Yes PLEASE educate yourself.

@SunsetRunner you better do some different research. Google has nothing to do with Fitbit.
A sync has always been between the tracker and the Fitbit cloud services.
As for location services, Fitbit doesn't care, but Android now requires it after they closed a major security hole that will allow an unknown user to take control of your phone during a sync.

@chogardjr Google only wants the meta data, they currently get plenty of private data from every one that is on the Internet. Especially android and apple users, yes Google powers the iOS search engine.
And @SunsetRunner I bought my first Fitbit Ultra, their second model, in 2012, even then an Internet connection
The simple fact is that Fitbit is an online service with an online community. With many services, challenges, etc that are online. Syncing only to the phone would put a damper in the offered services. Not to mention that a user would only be able to sync to one device and will lose all their info if their phone is switched.
5 below sells a nice tracker that works off line and only costs $5
