Are you talking about the step count just below your profile picture on the Fitbit App? (Open Fitbit app, tap profile picture, then tap profile picture again to view your profile…..totally different location then described in the link you provided in your post)
If that is the location you are talking about there’s nothing wrong with your setup or syncing. It’s some glitch (for lack of better word) in the Fitbit App itself. This has been an off and on issue for a long time. (Every bit of a year or more now)
The step count will appear “correct” on your Fitbit App main today page but will be “wildly inaccurate” under your profile information picture.
I have to admit (if this is what your talking about) that I’ve learned to ignore it because it is correct more times then it’s incorrect. I understand sticking my head in the sand is not the best method of working things out but I’ve learned to pick my battles. But, it has certainly been glitching for long enough and should be addressed.
