Fitbit Update: 9/12/19

Hey all!

We're still investigating and working on a fix for this text notification issue on Android.

In addition to not receiving the correct text notification, we're now aware this is also affecting call notifications. Some of you may only see a previous caller's name and not the person actually calling you at the time you're receiving the notification.

When we have more information for a fix, we'll announce it here in this thread. Please stay tuned for updates!

Fitbit Update: 7/30/19

Hi everyone.

We're aware of these issues with receiving only the sender's name from your text messages. This appears to have started with the Fitbit for Android app version 3.0. If you're experiencing this yourself with your Fitbit device, please know we're working on a fix.

While our team investigates this further, we just ask for your patience. Once I have information for a fix, I'll make an announcement here on this thread.

You are absolutely right. As I have said before, they do not care. Well as
a customer I do not care if they survive or not. My next tracker will not
have their name on it. And I sincerely hope that more and more users think
the same.

@dugstanI agree. They're too busy with new product releases to be bothered with supporting long standing customers. Even if you're not a long time user, the way they've handled this situation, or lack thereof, is pathetic.

The thing that really irritates me is that the Fit Notifications app works great. We shouldn't have to use a third party app as a fix for something they broke.

At this point I don't care if they ever fix it. Once new versions of competitor products are released in the coming months, I'm done with Fitbit.

This is all so annoying and so unsatisfactory for this to be have been going on as long as it has!

I haven't seen any undated info, informing us of the progress! So are they really working on it?! GRRRR

My problem is with the Blaze.

So.  Fitbit knows their update screwed up everyone's Fitbit.  Now several technical sites have picked up the issue.  Fitbit is doing nothing to assist their customers.  Can someone tell me a good alternative to Fitbit?  I only use it for time, date, steps, stopwatch and heartbeat monitor.

Lots of people have been telling me I should switch to Garmin. I have yet to look into it myself though.

I'm looking at the xiaomi mi band 4 now. Does precisely what you want, but
I'm not sure yet. Anyway, most trackers are cheaper and work better than
what fitbit gives us now.

Since there are forums after forums and pages after pages on firmware 22.22.58.0 can we have a concise update as to what is going on,  Since my update, my BPM stopped working, now the battery is draining completely in one day without my changing anything.  I have recharged, deleted the mobile app and reinstalled it, restarted my phone, restarted my Fitbit...any further suggestions and/or more current links and workarounds?  Is there any way to force my Fitbit to the prior firmware release?

Best Answer
Thanks, I will look into it.  You would think Fitbit should know they are losing thousands of existing customers and even more potential ones as the existing customers warn others....

"xiaomi mi band 4" This isn't bad for what I use it for. It's $40 through Amazon.  I don't need to have something that syncs to a smart phone or needs regular firmware updates.  Also, the battery charge is 20 days.

Android 10 is out now, so that's another factor to account for. I've got it on my Pixel 3.

Ricardo.. we just hear blah blah blah.

Complaints need to go to to the Google play app reviews and Amazon reviews

I just went to the Play Store and had it update my Android but it's still showing 22.22.58.0.  I was up to 40% charge while typing this and it was syncing.  But after updating the firmware (at least thought it did), it is so dead now that it doesn't even recognize it being plugged into the USB charger.  Oh well.  I guess I'll keep checking on here to see what happens.

same problem here too. Been going on for months and when I email them all they say is they're sorry and working on it. I'm sorry but that's just not acceptable

Another update (3.6), another failure 🙄

Just passing it along. I'm using Fit Notifications.

No surprise there! Rolling back to 2.95 also still seems to work, but we shouldn't have to go to a third party to download it. Fitbit has it within their power to fix this yet fails to do so after at least three months. That speaks volumes, doesn't it?! I believe this will be the beginning of the end for them.

Unfortunately, after numerous daily charging of the battery and downloading the newest update, my Charge 2 won't even turn on or recognize that it's plugged into the USB to charge.  It is completely DEAD!  So there will be no changes for me.  I would even consider a Charge 3 if they would give me a credit on this one they messed up but what concerns me are the comments that these updates are affecting more of the Fitbit models.

Thought I'd share with the group what I received today.  I wrote a less than favorable response to a survey I received concerning the Fitbit App.  Part of the response of the developer is that, with the new dashboard, users will not be able to revert to a prior update version.

We wanted to let you know the developer of the Android app Fitbit, has replied to the Google Play review you wrote for it on Sep 18, 2019.

Worse app update in years. Fitbit community forums have over a hundred pages of complaints. Missing texts, missing notifications, batteries which held 5 days of charge draining in a day or hours. Fitbit is doing nothing about it so far. Watch out for 22.22.58.0 firmware update. It messed a ton of Android based Fitbits.
Developer response:
Hello Yatsishome - Sorry to hear. We are always looking for ways to better our app, and your feedback is an invaluable part of that process. The new Dashboard is fully implemented and users will no longer have the option to revert. To know more, see https://bit.ly/2IYVUq9. Need further help? Reach us at contact.fitbit.com. ~Fitbit Support
