Hello everyone!

I would like to announce that the redesigned Fitbit app starts rolling out today! This new app will help you reach your goals, and bring the health and wellness information right on hand.

Check out our latest blog for how to get the most out of the new app.

Note: Please be patient if you don't see the update right away, as it will take some time to roll out completely.

Happy stepping!

I agree with all of the commenters.  In particular, I want my screen to show steps as the first thing on the screen.  It now shows heart rate.  I can promote or demote whole categories of information but not specific items.  Does anyone know how to do that?  Does anyone from FitBit ever respond to questions in this forum, or is it just a place to commiserate?

Great points and agree on all counts!

@KOHM50

The battery level changes to medium @ 75%. Still watching for when it changes to low.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately it's the only way I know what my charge
level is since my screen is blank! I guess I will have to get a new one.

👎👎 This is awful 😕 can't rearrange my stat tile, being forced to have a stat I don't really care about front and center, edit function is useless. Are my tracked walk maps gone for good? Extremely disappointed, this is not a step forward. Zero stars, do not recommend.

Very poor. More difficult visually due to the monochrome presentation.  In the previous versin you could customise the arrangement of the main display and the individual widgets - this is no longer the case. The main display is fixed and the individual widgets are grouped according, presumably, to the personal taste of someone at Fitbit. The weight lost has disappeared .They haven't even bothered to fix the fault with displaying skin temperature in Centigrade despite knowing about it for years .

Whatever happened to "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"?

Swiping up on the Today screen doesn't seem to do anything on an Android phone

It syncs, but doesn't show thae state of the battery. Why reduce the functionality?

Agree.  I want the previous one back.

@RosannaMontanaDthe Alta HR over time did get too dark for me to read, so I had to get another Fitbit. I'm using the Inspire 3 now and love it.

New app is a terrible concept. Lost quick information and ability to truly have the options o want on my screen.

Rollback, please!!!

Exercise map now with no street name labels?  Nothing on the map labeled at all. Nice improvement.

Exercise map speed zone colors changed, so now a user needs to distinguish dark green from black for differing zones. Nothing was wrong with the previous colors that could easily be distinguished. Obviously, beginners were assigned to the update task.

Bike exercise no longer shows max speed or max heart rate (on any exercise) . You can still see that info on the Fitbit device before you tap done. If you want to see that info later, forget about it.

Heart rate graph on an exercise was ruined, because the logarithmic scale and bpm range previously used was changed. Heart rate graph starts at 30bps. Really, during exercise? The graph shows practically a flat line for the heart rate, when previously it was quite a jagged line showing detail.

You must be a Google stooge. This new UI is going to chase away many customers

I too agree with the points.

Also, the old app would allow activities that were auto recognized as SPORT to be edited to the actual activity (e.g. TENNIS) .  Can't do it in the updated app!!!!

I agree, I have never despised an app more. it looks like a 5-year-old designed it and now it does not track properly, I mean I know I get very little sleep but I'm SURE it's more than 18 minutes, nor am I getting SMS, calls, nothing, even though they are turned on. I do not like to use the word hate and try to use other words but I literally HATEEEE this new update. I don't like the look or the feel of it at all, it's childish and unuseful. Please change it back, or give US the option to decide what we want.

I hate the new version of the app. I was on an 873 day streak. After knee surgery 5 months ago I sat and marched my arms to get 10k steps. I have walked round my house to get 10k steps, anything to keep my streak. Three weeks ago I had to say goodbye to my dog, I am totally heart broken. The step streak is what kept me going, some days all I have wanted to do is go back to bed but instead went out walking to maintain my step streak. Fitbit please bring this feature back, it was THE main reason I chose this product over competitors.

The new interface has taken away lots of the details of one's fitness journey that were in previous interface. I can't get the actual duration of walks, exercise, etc when I only get steps in 1 hour increments. What were you thinking?

The constriction of display options is real disappointment. ***That was a probably one of the most attractive part of my selection of Fitbit device in the first place.****

Was there any beta testing of this new interface? I want to go back, is there option for that?

So sorry for your loss!  I admire how you kept up your 10K steps after knee surgery.  Looking at my streak as kept me going as well. This version is horrible.  I can't even fathom how they accepted these changes.  Clearly the decision makers are not Fitbit users.

Let's hope that they are paying attention to this negative feedback!

Same here. Fitbit has lost ALL of its appeal to me. The new white space dominated and minimalistic endless scroll UI is something I find extremely unhelpful. I'm thinking to try a Garmin. Their UI looks nice and neat and has the data I want.

It can be worse than the previous "updates" and is exponentially worse than I could have imagined!

  • The color scheme and basic design looks like it was done on a Commodore 64
  • The GPS maps of my exercises look like a 4th grader drew it with 2 colored crayons, can't tell any details about it
  • The heart rate graph (that they had FINALLY fixed) is now scaled so badly it looks like I flat-lined on my walk
  • There is still no option to set a weight range, so it is still telling me I need to gain weight because I am FINALLY below my target weight
  • The battery percentage is gone

...I could keep going but I know I am wasting my time.  Fitbit/Google is just doing whatever they want, and not checking in with their users at all. I highly doubt anyone working on this project actually uses one of their devices, because who would design it like this if they did?!

Several of my friends have Garmins.  Their interface is vibrant, detailed, and allows you to drill down into your stats.  That device and software is OBVIOUSLY designed by someone who understands what people concerned about their health and fitness are looking for.  Come on Fitbit - check out the competition, talk to your customers, and really put forth some effort, or just cut kill the product line all together.  This painful death by a thousand updates is horrifying.

Thanks, it's atrocious!

In its attempts to be 'dynamic and simple,' it has become a confusing mass of same. No differentiation, no color adjustments, poor icon images, everything somehow both clustered and separated in all the wrong ways.

It's just a sea of terrible choices.

Very, very unfriendly to an ADHD brain in its attempted uniformity.

This is the final push I needed to buy a completely different brand. Thanks, FitBit, for ruining something somewhat functional.
