Hello @DTBuck
Actual it can happen in the right job under the right circumstances I suppose. Especially if your moving your hands all day (like typing feverishly I guess for extended time periods) I have read where individuals can even gets a steps while driving if the road conditions are bumpy and poor. I guess my question would be does your Fitbit act normally (recording steps) on your days off?? If so then I would assume it’s showing an accurate number for work as well. I know for me personally the weather (especially when a storm is brewing and coming my way) I can actually obtain floor counts I never took. I’m not sure if my answer helps in anyway but it could be something to chew on. 😃
But, if you feel that maybe something is indeed wrong it wouldn’t hurt to restart your Fitbit Watch. You won’t lose any data doing so. You can look here to see how to properly do so: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1186.htm

@SunsetRunner Thanks for your input and personal experience. It definitely makes sense.
@DTBuck Welcome tot he forums. Thanks for explaining. I will gladly help you regarding the step count on the Fitbit app.
I have seen that happen before. However, there are many factors that could affect your step count. First I would like to ask if you have "MobileTrack" enabled? This is a feature of the Fitbit app that lets your smartphone act as a Fitbit device and track your steps too. It has happened that this feature ends up tracking so much steps that throw off your daily data. Please make sure this option is not enabled. Then monitor the step count the next day.
