Tracked Walk Summary is Different From Walk Summary

When I actively click 'Log Exercise' - Live walk with GPS, at the end it gives me a summary that includes a lot of information including the steps taken. If I close this and then open the walk from the Exercise menu the summary displayed gives a different number of steps taken during the walk.

For examples for yesterday and today:
12/19/23 - Post Walk Summary: 1460 Steps | Exercise Summary: 1783 Steps
12/20/23 - Post Walk Summary: 1497 Steps | Exercise Summary: 1729 Steps

What causes this? I can look at these within 10 seconds of each other, so it doesn't seem like a catching up thing...

Note: Walk is recorded as between 0.88 and 0.89 miles so I am inclined to believe the second number is more accurate.

Let me see if I understand this.  You do your walk,  At the end, you get a workout summary and it is listed as a Walk on you Today screen.  If that is correct, you should not then go back and log  the walk; the walk is already logged.  Manually logging a walk is primarily intended for when you were not wearing your fitbit, or perhaps if your walk did not get auto-recognized as a workout and you are concerned about getting credit for a workout.  When you manually log a workout, whatever parameters you enter override the actual data that was recorded by your fitbit.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
