I have a Pixel 2XL and I upgrade to Android 11 last Sunday 9/13... since then my tracker (charge 2) will not sync reliably. If I plug the tracker into the charger and leave it with my phone for a few hours, it might sync during that time, otherwise I cannot get it to sync no matter what I do.
In addition, when I go running, it will sometimes track GPS while the app is open, but if I lock my screen, GPS link stops until I unlock my phone and reopen the app. Obviously this isn't something I want to do while running, I want my phone locked and put away. All permissions are enabled for the FitBit app and location is enabled all the time and no battery saver settings are enabled.
It seems to me that both problems are related to Android 11. Restarting Bluetooth, restarting my phone, removing the tracker from bluetooth device list, and even deleting the App and reinstalling it multiple times have not helped. I have also restarted my tracker multiple times as well. Nothing helps.
Edit: I was able to correct the problem by installing the FitBit app from the Windows Store onto a Windows 10 PC and syncing there. Afterwards, it now syncs fine on my phone and GPS is also working correctly. You don't need to delete the tracker from your phone, you just need to get a sync from a PC/Mac and that seems to resolve things.

The following worked for me.
I was having the same problem. After the Android 11 update I could sync with the Fitbit Alta HR. I Reinstall the app and also restarted the tracker to no avail. The Bluetooth pairing would hang on “connecting”.
-First I ran a Bluetooth update that was available for my Pixel 2XL
-Installed the Fitbit App in an old Android 9 phone (Galaxy)
-Setup the Alta HR using the app in the old phone (it took nearly 10 minutes be patient)
-After it recognized the tracker I stopped Bluetooth on the old phone
-Paired the Alta HR tracker using the Pixel 2XL
-Done, the tracker now displays the correct time and date and it shows as synched to the Pixel.
My take is that there is an update to the Fitbit firmware that is needed in order to work with Android 11 but the update obviously needs to be run in a Non-Android-11 device.

This is just awful though. It's patchy and works when it wants to. It's draining my watch battery because it won't pair. If they're not going to fix this, I'm going to stop using it, and buy another brand of smart watch. This is terrible customer service.

I THINK THE ANDROID 11.0 UPDATE CAUSING (at least one) PROBLEM: I have a Blaze Fitbit and an Android (Samsung Galaxy s10e) with 11.0 recent update. Phone & Fitbit won't sync. Got (an older) Samsung tablet, loaded the Fitbit app, logged on successfully to Fitbit -- and everything syncs like normal. 👍 Thanks for the idea!!!

It's really not fixed. We have this problem on two different andriod 11 phones with both new and old fitbits. Fitbit need to talk to Google and come up with a solution, else Fitbit will be ruling out any customers with Andriod 11 devices.
