Hello there,
As someone who works from home and also has a step goal they strive for daily, I found a way to convert my treadmill into a standing desk. The problem I have is that when I'm walking on the treadmill but I'm using my laptop and my arm isn't moving, the Fitbit doesn't register about half of the steps I take. This isn't a big issue, as the work-around I've found is to delete the 'Walk' exercise that is automatically logged and replaced it with a manual exercise for however long I walked and the distance. For the most part, it's pretty accurate as well given my stride length.
The issue I've had several times is that after I delete an exercise, it won't let me manually add a replacement. This has happened countless times in the past and each time I look online or on the forum without a solution. I've tried clearing the cache. I've tried clearing storage and logging out of the app and logging back in. The best I get is that the manually-entered exercise will appear for a couple seconds, then vanish. So at that point I don't have the deleted exercise, and I don't have any of the manually entered exercises, so my steps stagnate and I am forced to add fake manual exercises that don't overlap with the deleted exercise just to get the step count, which is always going to be inaccurate. It's like the exercise I deleted isn't deleted completely and still has remnants either in the app or on my watch that stop it from being overwritten.
For reference, I use the original Google Pixel watch and I'm on the most updated version of the Fitbit app on Android.

Hello @DRuss20
Unfortunately, there's a known issue on the Fitbit side that affects our ability to edit or manually add an exercise. The issue was partially for Android users, but it came back after an app update.
The team is aware of the issue and has been working on a fix. That said, the problem has been on-going for quite awhile without any timeline for a fix. It's been very frustrating for all of us.

Mine likes to delete my exercise after I started and ended it on my watch. So when I notice that, I manually log it... And that gets deleted too.
Very frustrating.

You can sample your walking data by just putting the Fitbit device in your sock around an ankle - the foot motion will normally be recorded, you might get the heart pulse data too but that is dependent on the location on your ankle. You just want to have the device on the outside of the ankle to detect the movement, no need to get the wrist band attached, just stuff it conveniently in your sock.
