Unable to log water or food

My Pixel 3 updated the Fitbit App - now I can't enter water or food - All I can edit is Steps, Distance, Calories Burned, Active Minutes, Floors display (on or off) ... half the screen is taken up with the button that wants to go look at all the crap that FitBit's trying to sell me on, more workouts etc etc etc. Do I want Challenges and Adventures - NO F'n NO.  This new app has ruined the whole FitBit experience.

Hi @EdmundC. Welcome to the Community Forums.

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts about the new dashboard, and I'm sorry for the inconvenience experienced with this change. I see where are you coming from and our team will work on the Fitbit app based on every feedback posted in the Community to make sure that we are delivering that our users want and need.

About the issue experienced with the Fitbit app, since the Fitbit app is updated, I'd recommend to try the following steps:

  1. Log out from the Fitbit app.
  2. On your phone's settings, tap on Apps > Fitbit > Storage > Force stop.
  3. Reboot your phone.
  4. Open the Fitbit app and log back in.
  5. Scroll down and next to the food or water tiles you'll see a little (+) sign. Tap on it to log your details.

If the issue persists and you get an error message displayed on the Fitbit app, please take a screenshot of it and attach it in your reply so I can take a deeper look.

Keep me posted.

Thanks for the rapid response, I went through the suggested steps and nothing's changed, I'm attaching two screenshots, one is the basic display, the other is the minimal edit options.

I have used the FitBit for several years, essentially I see it as a complex sensor that records activity (I work in the biomechanics electronics world) - initially that's all that I was interested in but then about a year ago I started recording food and water intake and using the Charge2 interface to record workouts.  Interesting data but now the interface seem to have fallen down the social media rabbit hole and wants me to get involved with something other than recording my activity.  I have zero social media interest and the idea of having Amazon Alexa in a fitbit, listening to everything said around me, is something I would never even think of considering - sure some people like it, but I don't.

I just want the old "user" interface to come back as an option and I think a lot of long-term users would like it too, it doesn't have to be fancy, just very minimal and work.Screenshot_20191011-151801.pngScreenshot_20191011-151928.png

Hi @EdmundC. I'm glad to see you here again.

Thanks for getting back and sharing screenshots of what is displayed in the Fitbit app. I know how you're feeling about the changes made on the Fitbit app. Currently there isn't an option to return to the old dashboard, but as mentioned above, our team will continue working and improving the Fitbit app taking into consideration your feedback.

About your concern, let me share that the edit option in the new dashboard will help you to rearrange the order of the tiles or hide the ones that you want. Now, to add Today items on the dashboard, you'll need to do the following:

  1. On the Fitbit app, tap the "Discover" option that appears at the bottom.
  2. Tap on "Health & Fitness Stats".
  3. Look for the tile you want to have on the dashboard and tap on "Add to Today".
  4. Do the same with the rest of the tiles.
  5. You can then tap on "Edit" and change their order as you prefer.

Let me know how everything goes.

"next to the food or water tiles you'll see a little (+) sign. Tap on it to log your details."

There are no food or water tiles, they have all disappeared and there's no (+) sign.  If I click on "Edit" the only options are Steps, Distance, Calories Burned, Active Minutes and Floors.  No food or water, I still use the Fitbit but my interaction with it, and the app is now virtually zero.

Is Fitbit trying to force everyone to "upgrade" and pay more?  Maybe that's why Google wants to buy the company?

Hi @EdmundC. I'm glad to see you here again.

Thanks for getting back. I'm unsure if you were able to see my last post but let me share that the edit button that you're seeing at the upper right corner will allow you to rearrange the order of the tiles or hide the ones that you want. However, the process to add tiles is a little different in the new dashboard. Please try the steps from my last post and if the issue persists, don't hesitate to reply back so we can continue working on this.

I'll be around, keep me posted.
