Unable to pair to Samsung S4

Hi,

I bought a Flex 2 to my sister.

She has tried to pair the Flex 2 to her Android Samsung S4 (running stock Android 5) for several hours, without success.

  • In the Android Bluetooth menu, the Flex 2 can be detected by the phone (and can be paired manually)
  • In the app, it's not
  • She paired it to her account on an iPod Touch, and it was working fine
  • When she then logs on the Android app, it's now showing but can't connect/sync
  • She has uninstalled the app several times, started/stopped bluetooth, restarted the phone. No success
  • She has reset the Flex 2 on the charging cradle several times

Looks like it's an App issue on Android...

She is really annoyed, as she likes the look of it (and want to wear a normal watch at the same time). However, a device with no display that cannot sync during the day is pointless.

Anything else she can do, before the Flex 2 and bracelet are returned to Fitbit for a refund?

If you manually paired the flex 2 to the phone through the phones BT settimgs, you need to tell the phone to forget the Flex 2. The pairing of the Flex 2 to your phone has to be done by the app.

The users job is to connect the app to their Fitbit account, once connected the app will do the pairing.

Tell the phone, not the app, to forget the Flex 2.start the app up, log into the account, the Flex 2 should then pair and sync.

Yes, I know.

The manual pairing in bluetooth was just done to check if it was actually possible to connect the flex 2 to the phone in bluetooth (and it was). After that, we removed the pairing and started the app again...

I understand the "pairing" has to be done through the app, but it simply does not work.

@Tomtomato sorry there was no hint in your message that you knew, as for as I know the phone should not be able to be paired manually.. Any way is the Flex 2 still connected to her account?

If so I would start with the general sync troubleshooting steps.

If the iPad is still nearby, make sure that it is off

SAME PROBLEM!!!

recently bought the flex to for my mother for her birthday, however the fitbit refuses to pair with her galaxy s4 even though it pairs fine with my personal phone. Great GIFT! phone paired fine with my personal iphone but just keeps telling us to turn off bluetooth turn it back on. We've installed uninstalled, logged in logged out... even made a new account. nothing has worked... now she wont even touch it because we have been fighting for it to work since she opened it on her birthday... yup super happy. :s...just dont get it.. it paired fine my the Iphone, but it cant be the phone because its bluetooth connects to other devices... we even unpaired all the other devices to see if it would make a difference and it didn't. now she just wants me to take it back...

I'm with your mother. I was given an Alto Fitbit & I'm unable to pair it with my Samsung 4. So frustrating & a total waste of time.

I've told my partner to return it to the shop - I don't want it.

We tried it on his Iphone without any issues. It obviously isn't suitable for the Samsung S4.
