Unable to setup Charge 3 with Moto G8

I recently got a new phone, a Motorola Moto G8. My charge 3 will not pair with it. When I try to add a new device within the app it tells me to plug into a charger and then says it can't find the device, and to turn on/off Bluetooth. I do this, but the cycle just repeats and it never finds the device.

If I manually search for Bluetooth devices on my phone it can find the Charge 3, but is unable to pair with it.

I previously had a Moto G3 and had no problem connecting to my Charge 3 with it.

Hi @Rataan, welcome to the Community Forums! Sorry for the delay in responding your post.

First, I'd like to appreciate your effort and patience troubleshooting this situation prior to posting. If you haven't already done so, I recommend you to check all the information that's specified on: How do I set up my Fitbit device? to check if all the requirements are correctly configured to setup your device. Then, you can move forward to the troubleshooting steps that are specified on: Why can't I set up my Fitbit device? and let me know how it goes.

Also, I recommend you to forget the Charge 3 from your Motorola Moto G3 Bluetooth settings to avoid interference between your new phone and the Fitbit device.

I'll be around if you need anything else, please keep me posted.

I also have the Motorola Motot G8. I was able to connect my phone to the Fitbit app but receiving notifications seems to be an issue. For text messages nothing comes through ever. Calls come through, then the whole thing seems to disconnect without warning and no notifications are sent.

Hi Ricardo,

I have followed these steps and still no joy. I repeated the steps 6 or 7 times over a 90 minute period, but it was the same every time. After entering the code that is displayed on the Fitbit the phone searches and searches and eventually gives up.

The same thing happens to me. Fitbit charge 3 and Moto G8 don't speak the same language

Hello!

I am new to Fitbit! Got myself an exercise bike and inherited a Fitbit Charge 2. I wanted to see how I would get on with this technology before committing to a newer model.

Unfortunately I'm having difficulty with pairing the Charge 2 with my android Moto g8 plus. I tried installing and uninstalling the Fitbit App. Bluetooth has been on and off. It pairs well with my Bluetooth speaker but not with the Charge 2. Any suggestions?

Best wishes

I have a Motorola Moto G8 Plus, and a Charge 3. Pretty soon after purchasing it, I started to have massive issues with syncing, and they're been ongoing for almost a year now. I've lost my data countless times because by the time I finally manage to get it to sync, some of the data has already been lost. FitBit help is useless, asking me the same questions every time and sending me the generic FAQ's of things that might help. Yes, I have the latest version of Android and the latest version of the app! Yes, my app allows the all day sync to be on and for my location to be known.

Recently they suggested telling my account to forget the tracker completely and set it up again. I did that, and the tracker synced once, and not since then. So it helped, for a moment, kind of, but not really, and this deletes the data stored, so you have to somehow sync it before even trying this.

Every now and then I get lucky and it suddenly syncs - after me spending an hour, an hour and a half, sometimes two hours going through all the suggested things. Uninstalling and reinstalling the app, logging out and in again, restarting my phone, force quitting the app and restarting it, restarting my BlueTooth and my internet connection, removing the connection between the phone and the tracker on BlueTooth, all of the above several times. As I said, every now and then I manage to get it to sync when I randomly try all of these, and I don't even know which step has worked.

Sometimes the number of steps shows on the app but nothing else (no sleep data, for example), and then by the next day, that is gone as well, so it hasn't really synced properly.

Currently I told my phone BlueTooth to forget/unpair from the tracker, and ever since I have not been able to even pair it again. My phone just doesn't "see" the tracker. It doesn't come up as an option when I ask the phone to look for nearby devices. Sync has completely failed for two weeks in a row now.

At my wit's end with this. The product is not fit for use if it doesn't sync, and I am not getting any actual help. Please do not send me the FAQ again, I've done it all a million times. The sync is just meant to be automatic. I don't have two hours every week to spend on just trying to get the tracker to sync.

I also tried to get it to pair with and sync with an old phone, a Moto G5, and the result is the same. No sync, no ability to even pair. Just fails.
