Upgrading my fitbit can use same app/software?

My Alta HR broke this week and I wanted to buy a new Fitbit. Would my new device start where the last one left off in terms of my software? Keep adding to the same "files" of sleep, steps, etc instead of starting over? Hope this makes sense..

Your data is all stored in the Fitbit database under your account.  Make sure you are in the same account, and add the new device and the data will all go together without regard to which tracker it came from.

When you add device, it will probably note you already have tracker attached and ask if this is a replacement - yes.  Then, not sure if this necessary, but go to phone's blutooth settings and unpair old tracker if it is still paired.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
