Versa Lite drama

I have owned this device for about 36 hours. I am beyond frustrated with my versa lite. After several tries, I finally got it paired, synced and updated. Then, within 45 minutes, it quit working. I have scoured the forums and have tried every bit of advice I can find, to the point of trying to remove and set up the device again. Now,  the app will find the device, but won't connect. I am writing after several attempts, tinkering with a LOT of settings, restarting my phone, restarting the device, on and on and on. The "try again" instructions are useless... I have seen them so many times, I can recite them by heart. I don't want to have to earn a Master's in computer science to be able to set this thing up. I have a Moto G phone with Android OS that is 5+ (supposedly supported). Can someone please assist before I toss my Fitbit in the trash?

@Virgil31, if your phone is running Android 5, it will not work with Fitbit devices, which require Android 7.0 or higher. The stated requirements are:

Fitbit products are compatible with most devices that have the following operating systems: Apple iOS 12.2 and higher, Android OS 7.0 and higher, or Windows 10 v1607 or higher.

First... I wanted to share that when I followed the link provided by Fitbit RE troubleshooting (paraphrasing, but it said something to the effect of, "find out if your device is compatible"), it stated that Motorola products only needed to run Android 5 or higher. I am running Android 7.1.1. The Versa Lite DID, after several attempts, finally pair and synch with my phone... for about 45 minutes. Now, my phone won't do anything other than find and pair with the device. I can't even set it up again. I have literally found 0 suggested fixes that have worked... and believe me ...I've looked. I am looking for any and all suggestions that might be useful in helping me figure out how to get the Versa Lite into operation at all. Right now, it is starting to look like a huge waste of time and money.
