Versa not receiving Ring doorbell app notifications

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

All my other apps are sending my watch notifications except my Ring doorbell app.  I have it checked in the list of app notifications but it still won't go to my versa watch.  I think the Ring app updated last week and now for some reason I'm not getting notifications on my watch even though I'm still getting them on my phone and they are selected in the Fitbit app list.

Thanks for posting this. It's sad that we need to resort to such a hacky
solution without any help from Fitbit, but I'm glad you came up with this.

It is ridiculous! A third-party application can communicate with the ring doorbell and have notifications sent to your watch and phone, but Fitbit can't figure it out!

I set up this workaround yesterday and instead of sending a notification I am having it call our cell phone. It works perfectly. The only issue I had with the entire process is that the application doesn't have a very good interface for the user.

You have to figure everything out, and it does not seem possible to create your own applets. I just figured out how to do a search and found one that could connect ring doorbell to a phone call and that's what I used.

You can create your own applets, but the UI is confusing. It's a tough situation because the fact that other applications have to problem sending notifications to the Versa seems to point to Ring as the issue. But the fact that Ring works with other watches points back at Fitbit. Frustrating!

At least the workaround can tide us over a bit until a fix comes along.

It's funny, Ring notification works on my Fitbit versa but not on my wife's
versa. I set up the workaround on her phone and it works. As you say, the
IFTTT interface is confusing. I didn't see where to create applets even
when visiting the IFTTT web site.

When in the IFTTT app, at the bottom there is a "Get More" button. If you click on that, the next page has a small "plus" sign towards the top right. If you click on that you can create your own. I took some screenshots, but Fitbit doesn't seem to allow image uploads.

But clicking on "Get More" should get you to the right place. Then right below the search bar up top you'll see the Plus sign.

I just returned my Versa 2. Not only the problem with Ring but Alexa only
works for a day or two then stops. Tried Alexa on three different Versa 2
and had the same problem. Got a Vivoactive 3 and it does what it's supposed
to do. No Alexa but I didn't have one with the V2. I'm through with Fitbit

Thanks. I'll try that. Since it's working I'm scared to change anything....LOL

We're out of warranty, but this is the last time we buy fitbit. They're just not able to fix simple problems. Google is buying them and probably won't care. This is such a "daily life" item that I may jump to Apple watch because of it.

An excellent work-around! You've come up with a solution that the Fitbit
'brains' couldn't (or at least couldn't be bothered trying).

Well done and thank you!

Creating an applet can sometimes be confusing, I swear the Android app
didn't show the plus sign in "more" to make my own applet until after I
added one on the website. This worked for me: https://ifttt.com/create .

Ok, thanks. I didn't see it either.

Thank you so much! Once, I finally figured out that  after  you clicked on "create your own", you had to click the huge plus sign in the middle of the screen and keep following the prompts, it was so easy to do.  I made an applet for the front door bell,  front yard motion, and backyard motion. Just had to repeat the process each time. Clicked on the app in the app list in the fitbit app on my phone and then rang my front door bell to test it.  Instantly got the notification!

What a neat app.  I really appreciate this work around you gave us!

You bet! IFTTT is super handy if you have any other smart devices as well. You can easily create tasks based on time of day, weather, etc...

Anything new on this issue?

I gave up on Fitbit and my Versa 2. Sad that I believed that they were actually looking into this issue and would fix it. I missed my return window and am now stuck with it. BUT I bought the new Samsung Active2 watch and I absolutely LOVE it! Everything works seamlessly and I get ALL the notifications I want including Ring. I have zero connectivity issues either. I was hesitant to spend the extra money since I already paid for the Versa 2 but I'm so glad I did! Worth every penny! My suggestion is ditch the fitbit and go with Samsung if you have an android or apple watch if you are able apple person, and want a fully functional smart watch.

I don't think so. I haven't seen that option but didn't specifically look
for it either. I would look at the info on Samsung's website if that is
something you are looking for
