I recently upgraded my phone to a Samsung Galaxy S21. Ever since then I cannot pair my Versa with the phone. I keep getting an error that says "app must be installed" on my phone when I try to pair. I have tried everything that FitBit support has suggested and it still does not work. Can anyone assist? I am so frustrated. Everything worked fine until I got a new phone.

I had the same problem, and a customer service person told me that Message about needing an app is not an error-it's just telling you that this watch needs an app to work.Does it show that sense and sense controls or versa if that us what you have are pared? If so,and you can get calls, notifications, and connect your alexa or Google assistant (versa 3 and sense) then you are good to go..If not, delete the app, turn off bluetooth, reboot phone. Reinstall the app,add your watch like it's new, give all permissions, including calendar. I have samsung S20 plus and it works great.

@Jaylbee the correct way to switch phones is very easy.
Your problem is that you are trying to pair the tracker through your phones Bluetooth. The tracker will reject this and ask you to use the fitbit app.
If the tracker is still connected to your fitbit account, follow the above steps.
If the tracker has been removed from your fitbit account. We will have to set it up. After setting up, the fitbit app will pair the tracker to the phone.

Using the Fitbit app on the S21 it starts the set up. The code appears on the Versa 2, enter it into the app, after a minute or two it fails. App recommends restarting the Versa 2, cycling the phone's bluetooth off & on, and retrying. That has failed multiple times.

I had to clear data and kill the fitbit app through the phones setting.
