Weight Section of App Changed

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have an Android and Sense 2. Sometime in the last few days the information shown in the weight section and how it's shown has changed.

My goal progress is gone and now it only shows how much I need to lose to hit my goal, instead of showing how much I've lost and how much I have left. This is very discouraging! I also used to be able to see a long list of daily weight logs and the average for the week (in list form), that is gone also. This was a very helpful feature as I use the weekly average to track if my weight is trending the right way.

Also, when I click on "All Time" I can no longer see all my entries, just an average which is also frustrating.

I can't understand why FitBit would think it would be beneficial to take away data!

Can this be fixed? If not, I'll need to look at different trackers/apps despite ha ing used FitBit for several years.

Hello @snuttman

This is a known issue for Android phone users after the recent app update. See this thread (<-- click link). Although the original issue was in regard to food logging, one of the Moderator acknowledged that the issue also affects weight tracking. The Moderator said that he will be posting updates on this thread.

You might want to join/follow that thread so you'll see the updates.

I also have the same bone to pick with the new update of the Weight view in app. I used to be able to see all my weigh ins. I do not like the "average weight" feature as it is not accurate. I miss the feature that would list how much was lost and what was left to lose. Very unhappy with the update. Not very user friendly and the information isn't as helpful as the previous.

Oh, I thought the weekly average in the blue bar was accurate. I'm pretty
sure I even manually calculated it a few times. I work with a nutritionist
and personal trainer and now I won't be able to provide the same data.

I am also disappointed! I used that graph as my encouragement.  The sharp harshness of the graph is also jarring/ unpleasant to look at. I miss more data points and the curvature.

The data display is a MAJOR downgrade. Enough that I no longer want to log my data in it. The sharp points of the graph and only using ONE point per year is horrendous. This doesn't give justice to any of us who have sharp changes in weight (such as child birth or dieting). Please tell me which graph below is more pleasing to the eye and easier to read.. this HAST to change back.

Agreed! It definitely doesn't make it look like you're in a downward
trajectory when you are 😞 I hope they fix it and i don't have to switch to
another tracker.

I really can't understand how this change was viewed as an improvement. I hope more people voice their displeasure and that Fitbit takes notice. It's becoming less and less useful.

This newest "update" to the weight tracking showed up for me with v 4.30 of the app (Pixel phone, Android 15). It's definitely another downgrade. I can no longer recommend Fitbit to family and friends, as it's been degraded so much in the last 1.5 years. Sometimes other users say they like the updates and newer look to the app, but invariably they are folks who have not been using the features that were taken away/ changed or didn't realize those features were available previously. Weight tracking via Fitbit is not motivating any longer. I can say this as someone who successfully used Fitbit 3 years ago for long-term weight loss and maintenance and recommended it to others to help with longer term health  improvement.

How did you install an older version? I didn't do any upgrade to the fitbit app. So how did Google change it? I also saw the change in the weight part of the app very recently (11/30).

I didn't do any upgrade to the fitbit app. I also saw the change in the weight part of the app very recently (11/30). I've used a fitbit since the end of 2013 to track my weight. Since 8/2019 I started a 35lb weight loss mission and accomplished it in Aug 2020. Never gained it back but watch it closely and all history very closely. That data is the only thing that's kept me with fitbit since Google bought it and has slowly ripped it apart. PS have owned Charge, Charge HR, C2, C3, C4, C5, C6, Versa 3 & currently Sense. Bought the Sense 2 this week but found out they eliminated the snore detection and other things. Sent it back the next day. I have a Samsung Note 20.

I feel your pain..

Fitbit....! For god's sake change this back! I smashed my scales a few weeks ago when they fell off the shelf. I specifically replaced my Fitbit scales because no other app/provider gives the same level of data when it comes to weight tracking.

Booted up the new set now to see this crappy update has happened while I was not able to log anything. What are you thinking???

If this is how it's staying, I should have got the Garmin index as this was the feature that kept me with Fitbit...

Update to the changes in the weight section. it looks like the weekly averages are still there, but you have to select the Week view and then move from week to week to see them at the top of the page. I still consider this a downgrade as I haven't figured out how to see weekly averages at once and get a better idea of trends; but hopefully this is helpful for others.

It was a valiant effort but, as you've explained, it's not visible at
once. The weight section of the app is still worthless now. I don't
understand why they removed function from such an important part of the
app.

I'm also very disappointed with the change to the presentation of the data in the app. The weight tracking is not of any value the way it is currently displayed. Please revert to the way it was previously, it was really well done.

Here's a kicker for us extremely loyal fitbit users. It also puts the
future data for everyone in question. They've deleted 2 years of my fitbit
weight history. Was wondering when they'd start doing that/deleting or
limiting history. It only goes back to 2016 now. I know this doesn't effect
most users. Only the oldest and most loyal. My weight data started in Nov
2013!

Thanks for pointing out how to still see weekly averages, that would've taken me a while to find.  100% agree this view is a massive downgrade - my whole focus is tracking weekly averages (because day-to-day fluctuations are noisy of course) and making that number hard to find and watch over time is a bad choice.

I fully agree with you about this being a serious downward step. As a statistician I feel the latest approach is rubbish. I've been logging my weight regularly since my first Fitbit, a Charge 2 and the main reason for continuing with a Fitbit was it had all my historical data visible. Unless things improve considerably, next time I need a new fitness tracker I will look around for other devices.
