My app updated to the new version and I do enjoy having the battery meter back, but if I go into an app's settings, the loading wheel disappears and all I get is a white screen.
For instance, the watchface I use (my fitbit is the Sense) is a picture one that lets you use a photo on your phone as the watch's background. Now I can't change the photo (I get what I now call the white screen of death) Also, when I was at work, I tried accessing the weather app and got the "no location detected" message (which could be my works wifi makes you sign in instead of being connected all the time) But since I've been home, I tried checking my weather settings, and AGAIN whitescreen.
The app did this a few days ago, and I saw a post on google about trying to uninstall and reinstall the app and I did (which did solve the problems but now a few minutes ago, my app reupdated and the issues are right back)

Same problem on my Sense. I cannot access the settings on any of my clock faces or apps that have settings. Just a white screen when trying to open these. My Weather app has defaulted to C instead of F and can't be changed back. I can now only use one of my paid clock faces due to the settings not being available on any of them. I can still use that one clock only because I had not ever removed/reinstalled that particular one while trying to solve this issue, so it still has its old custom settings (I just can't change them anymore). Advice elsewhere on this board had suggested removing/reinstalling clock faces to get the settings back, which didn't work at all.
When this first started happening, uninstalling the entire Fitbit app and restarting my phone and watch worked to get my ability to access settings back. But now settings are suddenly inaccessible again and removing/reinstalling doesn't work. So they've actually made the problem worse.

I fixed mine. I googled for Fitbit install files and downloaded app version 4.0 (Sept 19)
My settings now work again.
Recently published updates to the app are crap. That's it, problem solved.

The way I figure, it's the app. I checked settings on my mom's (like me, her phone is Android) and hers is like it too.
I did try chatting with Fitbit, all they did was have me reset the app to default (which did nothing)

We shouldn't have to resort to downloading potentially shady files from the internet to solve the problems Fitbit caused. That's an option if you're willing to take that risk. I am not.

Always your choice to run a faulty app provided by fitbit.
You are right, this should not be necessary. However it underlines that the Fitbit app is a crappy piece of work. Outside of that, FITBIT GIVE ME CONTROL OF MY PHONE back. How dare you force updates which I don't want?
Was it not "never touch a running system"?
FitBit: This goes out to you:
I am about done with your poorly designed, overpriced products that only cause grief! If the interface worked fine in 4.0 surely you can fix what you broke in 4.04. If you can't you will lose me as a customer of 6 years. Easy as that!
Angryly yours, RDH

Also important:
Disable "Automatic Updates" of the FitBit App by going into your PLAY STORE, click on your profile picture upper right, Manage apps & device, choose the "Manage" tab, find the FitBit app in the list ( I sort them by name using the "Burger Menu" top right - 3 lines), click on the app's icon, again go to the "Burger Menu" top right - 3 dots, UNCHECK "Enable auto update".
Be happy!!

I am having the same issue on Sense 2. There are at least three threads now on this issue with no fix so far from Fitbit.

NOT fixed!!!! Also, ANY app with settings such as weather. My weather is stuck on Celsius. When I go to settings to change it to fahrenheit I get nothing but a white screen.

This issue is definitely NOT solved or answered--still active. I was so excited to see a Fitbit app update in my queue, hoping it would contain a fix to the issue. I was so disappointed to see the bug still in the app. Android 11 users still cannot customized clock faces, and there is still no ETA on a fix, and very little communication coming from Fitbit.
