Why are my treadmill workouts are listed as elliptical?

My cardio workout consists of 30 minutes on a treadmill. I don't run on the treadmill but walk as fast as I am able, which tops out at 3.8 MPH according to the treadmill, which I'm not sure is very accurate. The Fitbit exercise app always records this as about 21 minutes of elliptical work rather than treadmill. Is it because I don't run? Or is there something I can do to get the app (Android and Windows) to record this accurately?

Hello @SunsetRunner it has to do with the motions your arm makes and that Fitbit does not have an auto detect for treadmill.

Since the body does not physically move, the tracker will not see a user walking or running.

For treadmill it is best to use the exercise mode called treadmill.
