Won't sync any friends/contacts

I have a fitbit versa and a Samsung Galaxy S9 and have been trying to add friends and it doesn't find any of my friends. I've tried it under all options and tried searching for them. What do I need to do?

@B.Seltman Welcome to the Community. Thanks for the troubleshooting tried. 

In order to find friends in Fitbit, they should have created their account with the same email address that you have in your contacts. You could also try adding friends entering the email address, try the following steps: 

1. Tap the Today tab  , and tap your profile picture. 
2. Tap your name > View All Friends > Add Friends. 
3. Choose a method to find friends, then tap the Add Friend icon next to the name or email address of the person you want to add.
