It's nice to see you around more often @ejain!
My best suggestion is that you be in the same timezone as the challenge creator since you might have issues with your steps not updating correctly with your challenge when trying to sync your data. The challenge begins and ends in the owner's timezone.

Ohhh..sorry for the misunderstanding I believe the warning appear since Fitbit suggests all the Challenge participants to be in the same timezone to avoid any discrepancy.
