Wrong, very high step count first thing in morning: Android app

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Starting a few weeks ago, whenever I open the FitBit app on my Android phone -- before I have put on the tracker and taken any steps, it shows an insane number of steps. This morning, it showed 123,519 steps. It should show 0 steps.

Once I take some steps and I sync my FitBit, the number updates to the appropriate step count that matches my tracker. This is really annoying. It should show 0 every morning.

FYI, I do not keep bluetooth set to "on" on my phone. I only turn on Bluetooth when I am ready to sync my FitBit.

I have the same problem, but it happens multiple times throughout the day. Sometimes when I sync it corrects itself, but other times it still shows 100k+ steps. It's gotten to the point where I'm in a team challenge, and I'm expected to work out for 7 hrs today. What the hell?!? I usually do around 11k steps a day. The wrong step count is messing with these challenges with friends that are supposed to be fun.

I have a similar problem.

I keep my bluetooth on and my fit bit on.

This had happened to me.  Both times I was sleeping. Sure would like to be able to delete it or make it stop.

Hello @amanda-atl , @2022MissB , @Glocke12  and @the_lucy_who

Check to ensure your Fitbit App is running on its latest update version and your mobile device is updated as well. If so try logging out out the Fitbit app, then force shut the app by tapping the three vertical lines on the bottom left corner of the screen then tap close all. Go to your phones settings then scroll down and tap apps. Now find the Fitbit app in the list of apps and tap it. Now scroll down and tap storage then tap clear cache. Now restart your phone, log back into the Fitbit App as you normally would with your email address and password. If the problem persist I’d recommend deleting the Fitbit App, restarting your phone and reinstalling it.
😃 I hope this provides an answer to the problem. Please let me know how it goes.

This happened to me and it wouldn't be a big deal because it fixes itself, EXCEPT I use another device-neutral activity app (Stridekick) and it synced when the fitbit app was reporting a high step count.

Stridekick support was able to adjust my step count and mileage.
