can't edit activity on Android

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Just switched from IOS to Android, now when I record activity, I can't change it afterwards. The problem is Fitbit doesn't offer a Bike option when recording your fitness activity so I have to set it as Run and then change the category to Bike afterwards. I was able to do this previously in the IOS Fitbit App, can't seem to now in the Android app. Any options or workarounds? Sure would be nice if Fitbit would add Bike to the activity so I wouldn't have to do this...

Without knowing which tracker you have, I can't comment on lack of bike option.

As for editing it, you might try editing it in the fitbit.com exercise log.

Click 'Dashboard' near top right of this page, then 'Log', then 'Activities'.  In the 'Activity History' click on pencil beside your workout to edit it.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

There is no pencil available in the Fitbit website for me either. I only have the option to Export as TCX or Delete. This is weird, if I look at the Activity History, the only ones with the pencil option are the categorized exercises that Fitbit automatically creates from your movement during the day, such as "Walk". All the others have no option to edit. I think this is some sort of bug in the app.

Which tracker are you using?  That affects being able to select 'Bike" at start.  If not Alta series, should be able to start "Bike" option on tracker.

I had a long discussion with support this morning and they said they will need to look into the issue more.

BTW, please vote for my product enhancement feature request here:

I use the Blaze. That is true Johnny, guess I could just track the exercise from my watch. However there still are issues between how the functionality works between the IOS Fitbit app and the Android and Fitbit Website. There are things you can do in the IOS app that are not allowed in the Android or Fitbit website which is strange. Would be nice for feature parity since this is way I always used to track exercise.

I don't disagree.  I was just trying to find some work-around.

Hello @eric1098 and @JohnnyRow.

@eric1098 Thanks for sharing your feedback and posting the link to your suggestion.

At the moment it is not possible to edit activities on the Android app the same way as it is possible on the iOs app. Maybe you could vote for this suggestion to edit start and end time, or create another suggestion that includes more options to edit. Be sure to read the FAQ if there are any questions on the way that board works.

Let me know if there are any further questions.

Fitbit needs to get their butt in gear and fix some of these problems. Other issues with the app/devices have taken waaaaaaay too long to get fixed -- if they get fixed at all. I'm still afraid to pause my walk for fear that I'll lose my map. Maybe this has been fixed in the past couple months, but it was that way for over the year and half that I had my Alta HR.

I'm having this problem too with my Versa. For some reason my walks are being recorded as runs. Now, I walk a very old dog, and we go really slowly, so there's no way an accelerometer could confuse the activity with running. When I go into the Activity History, there's no way to change "Run" to "Walk". No pencil icon, no right-click, no edit menu drop-down, no nothin'.

And now I see that the "Have the ability to edit exercises" thread STARTED ON 11/05/2014 has a recent comment from SantiFitbit that the "feature" request status is "Not currently planned". WTF??

Is there any further status on the inability to edit activities for Android users? As far as I can tell, I can edit only auto-recognized activities, but not ones I tell the FitBit to monitor.  Users can't edit the list of FitBit defined activities to select on the device (Inspire HR for me) and that means we can't add anything to that list. If we had an activity type labeled "Custom" configured for always allowing later editing, that might work. If the device had that, users would know they could mark start and stop times when they're being active and change the label or other info later. It would just take one addition to the pre-defined list. That seems easier for FitBit to put in place than to add a whole new function.

Somebody please bring this to the attention of fitbit developers...

7 years later and still cant edit activities! This is not some insignificant feature- this is necessary and basic functionality considering how often people forget to stop their activities on time.

The Android app is still a beta without this feature. Without this, fitbits are not fully android compatible. This is disgraceful considering that the company was sold to google. There is no excuse for this to not work on the desktop version either.

Fitbits are iOS devices with their app badly ported to Android. Period. Get your **** together already!
