problems updating to charge 3

hi,

I have recently received a fitbit charge 3 for my birthday and upgrade from my HR but I have been unable to sync it with my phone at all.  I have downloaded the app but my fitbit is still showing that I need to go to the setup site.  when I do it wont go past the download the app page?  what am I doing wrong?

If you already have an account for your Charge HR, there is no need to download the app again.  From the app logged into your same account, just do 'Set up a Device' to have all your new data merged with your data from previous tracker.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
