As I read this forum from 2020 and see I'm having this issue in 2022, it doesn't give me confidence. I just bought my fitbit today and get the same error 403 when I try to connect with a fitbit user via email.

I have been having this issue and when I went into the dashboard on the Fitbit website (not the app) and clicked on the friends tile the requests I had got off other people were sat there and I could add people too, wonder if it's just an app issue, try using the dashboard

Same thing here, please fix. This has been like this for a long time
Have tried their user name and still get that error!

Strange how I can receive friend requests from spammers, scammers, retired U.S. Army generals who've been recently widowed, sob story phishers...
but not from one of my IRL best friends!
We've tried friend requests in both directions and both get Error 404
Two years and still not fixed!
I wonder how long it takes to fix a non-escalated issue lol.
Come on Fitbit - surely you can do better than this!

Is anyone actually looking into this issue?? I don't see any solutions and I am very frustrated that I can't add anyone to my "friends" list so we can challenge each other. I have tried both user and email addresses, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version, I have force stopped and cleared my app cache and I have tried to send the invites both through the app and the desktop version; all to no avail. One of the best features of Fitbit is that you gain motivation through your friends. Please fix this problem so we an enjoy the full benefits of wearing a Fitbit product!

Hi everyone.
Thanks for all your comments about this inconvenience with your friend requests. Please confirm that the Fitbit app on your phone is running the latest app version: Fitbit app 3.69. If you're using a Pixel Watch, uninstall and reinstall the Fitbit app on your phone.
After updating the Fitbit app, I'd recommend trying to send a friend request with these instructions:
Please check with your friend to determine if he received your friend request. Ask your friend to also check Spam folder just in case.
If you're still receiving 'Error 403' when sending a friend request:
See you around.

Don't work, I did exactly what you said why is this here marked as solved? Fitbit app uninstalled, cache and data cleared, My friend does not get an invitation, even if he tries to add me I do not get a notification. I also tried adding him directly through the phone number "Friends with Fitbit" When I press the +, it briefly shows that the request is coming, shortly after I can send a request again (as if I had not sent a request)
When I try to add it in the mobile app using the email address, it doesn't respond at all or there is no error message or anything else
It says "Send invitation?" I press OK, but nothing happens. When I add the email address in the "username" field, it comes Send friend request failed
[ERROR 404] [URL https://android-cdn-api.fitbit.com/1.1/user/-/freinds/invitations] He also tried to add me through my profile link https://www.fitbit.com/user/9TRLNK It doesn't work via the website either, you get that error message
what now? Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G Android 12 Fitbit 3.69 newest version from the Play Store
