"Failed to Send Fitbit Friend Request" Error 403 (Android)

Hi everyone,

Thanks for stopping by the Community to report this error with Friend Requests in the Fitbit for Android app.

When I try to add friends from Facebook and searching via user name, I get the error message "Failed to Send Friend Request [ERROR 403] [URL https://android-cdn-api.fitbit.com/1.1/user/-/friends/invitations]

How do I get this resolved?

Hi @GlennHad,

Welcome to the forums!

It looks like we don't support adding Facebook friends through the Web API. Using the POST Invite Friend endpoint, you can only send invites to friends using their UserId or UserEmail.

@Elwould Can you provide me with the full URL you are calling so that I can check if it is being formatted correctly? I've tested the Invite Friend endpoint on my end and I received a 201 response code, which indicates a successful query.

This is the error I get everytime I send one out whether it be by contact, email, username, or Facebook

Same thing happening to me as well, it doesn't matter how I try to invite I still get error code

I ended up using their email adresse that seemed to solve the problem. It
was after a few tries though.

Welcome to the forums!

Can one (or both) of you provide me with a screenshot of the error you are seeing? This is beginning to sound like an issue with the application itself, not the actual API for inviting friends. If this is the case, I may need to move this thread to the appropriate forum.

I get error 403 when trying to add a friend, tried email, ID and facebook and get this every time

I am having the same issue as many others - I've not seen a solution yet.

I get a 403 error when I try to add a friend. It occurs no matter whether I try to add them from contact list, from facebook friend list, or by email. I have already tried logging out, deleted the app and reinstalled it. I still get the same message when trying to add a friend. Is there a fix?

This is also happening to me and three of my friends/colleqgues.  We recently were trying to add each other to our list of friends and we all get the "failed friend request" message.
