I enabled notifications so I can get text/call alerts sent to my Charge 2. I'm getting an alert on my android phone with the title "Fitbit Notifications" and the body saying "Notifications are running".
That's fine, but I can't dismiss this alert. all I can do is go into settings and change the degree of notification.
Is this a bug? how can I dismiss these alerts?

It has to stay there so as it can maintain the link for notifications. Some people find that if they rely on the android os playing nice with fitbit notifications don't go through all the time. This just makes sure they do and with this way android sees it as a persistent notification.

@Norseman09, where/when are you seeing this? The only time I see it is if I pull down the top toolbar to look at the notifications there, otherwise it is not visible. That is because you have Enable Notifications Widget turned on, which you need enabled in order to use notifications. It cannot be dismissed as long as Enable Notifications Widget is on.

Correct, that's the only place I see it too. I just don't understand why the persistent notification needs to be there.

This is a obviously poor design choice.
The problem isn't the (android) notification, "fitbit notifications are running" but that it can't be dismissed. Highly annoying is this persistent use of valuable real estate that users can't control except to lose all fitbit app notifications. What other respected app does this? What other app would consider its notifications so important as to presume that it, individually, should not be subject to user control?
All of this is made worse by all the defenses made in this forum that seem to belierengently miss the point.
I'm giving up, disabling all notifications from the fitbit app only to get back control of my phone, my own mind's attention.

I have a Charge 5, and I’m not fully sure how it differentiates from the Charge 2, but I just swipe right when it gives me a notification. I hope this solves your problem.
(I know it’s late, sorry)
