I have recently purchased the Fitbit versa. I've been looking forward to have this watch for over a year now. So finally bought it . Turns out my phone, Huawei P20 light, is not on the competable list. Now, I know this is partly my fault for not checking before buying the watch but didn't think I needed to as Huawei became the second best selling phone brand of 2018. I ended up syncingy my watch to my Samsung Tab but this way I don't get any text or other notifications or phone calls trough which are quite big features. Also was disappointed to see that there is not one British bank on the contactless payment I could be using. I have a Lloyd's account which I thought was a popular bank but turns out it's not.  I can't even see any other banks like netwest, Halifax or HSBC....so overall I got a brand new watch and I can't use 3 of its exciting features. Bit of a bummer. Does anyone know if there's gonna be updates in the future to extend the list of banks or new type of phones to be added on ?

The compatibility list at www.fitbit.com/devices does get updated from time to time but fitbit don't tend to announce their plans so all we can do is keep an eye on it.

There's a specific issues with the Huawei "lite" phones though. Fitbit say:

"Due to Bluetooth issues that prevent certain devices, like Fitbit devices, from syncing, our products aren't compatible with the following phones:

  • Huawei P8 Lite
  • Huawei P9 Lite
  • Huawei P20 Lite
  • Xiaomi Mi 6"

taken from: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2315/?q=p8

To me, that sounds like the lite phones will not be added any time soon.

It's a similar situation with the banks. The UK is currently limited to:

  • boon. by Wirecard
  • Danske Bank (Mastercard)
  • Santander
  • Starling Bank (Mastercard)

It's been like this for a very long time (I've been waiting for Nat West). All we can do is keep an eye on: https://www.fitbit.com/fitbit-pay/banks
