Aria WiFi/Comcast issue solved

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

For the TL:DR: Fitbit support is big on passing blame. However the Aria network settings are 2.4ghz and only on the B band. All Comcast routers are default at g/n on the 2.4ghz. So, you have to go to http://10.0.0.1/ on your browser. Enter your routers Admin settings (User: Admin Password: Password and changed the 2.4ghz to B/G/N and that's it. After I did this, it linked for the first time.

Spent over half an hour on chat with FitBit's support last night as my Aria kept failing to connect to my network. Checking the error logs it was coming back with a "failed password" error. Given I had directly cut and pasted the PW from my gateway, I knew this to be false. The person I was talking to wasn't very helpful and kinda rude.

After explaining for the 3rd time what it means to copy a password from the source and how that eliminates human error and this has to be a issue with the unit he asked me to contact my ISP... And as I work for my ISP, I had a little chuckle and then it hit me. I asked him what exact network config does the Aria have? It's 2.4GHZ and exclusively on the B band. All new routers through CC are default g/n on the 2.4ghz. After switching that to a B/G/N I had to issues and the device linked fine.

I hope this find helps someone else and that Fitbit fixes this for future devices.

Had no* issues

I'm not able to edit that field when logged in using Admin. There's a message stating that XFi handles those configs, but I can't see any way to change it there either.

It did not work for me... but I used my android phone as a HOTSPOT and did the setup from my laptop (www.fitbit.com\setup) NOT from my fitbit application on my phone... That might work too,,, but I did not attempt it from the installed fitbit application.  I then followed fitbit setup and only connected to my hotspot...avoided comcast router completely.... This worked for me.... I tested several times... I do need to turn on HOTSPOT when I weigh myself everytime.

Update..

I noticed today that  my scale only syncs up when I avoid syncing with Fitbit application on my phone. I can only sync up my weight on  Aria scale by using web version www.fitbit.com on my phone and  via my hotspot. On my phone.

Update:

I noticed today that i could not sync..  I had to logoff from web version of fitbit.com.  It seem to have a stale connection,

Steps I did.

1. Turn on hotspot on phone.

2. logoff off of fitbit.com (web version)

3. logon to fitbit. (version).

4. Do a sync.

5. Verify sync worked,

6. Weigh myself

7. Verify .

Thank you for posting this. I’ve been struggling for two weeks and this is the single article online with instructions that actually worked.

When I try to do this and try to connect to the Aria in WiFi settings, I get a note that it is connection without internet so it never will connect. Did you experience this and did you have to do anything different?  WiFi has to be turned on to do this which makes my phone connect to the Xfinity router automatically, did you forget that network on your phone to complete this set up? Sorry if I missed something above and thanks for any suggestions.  Very frustrated as before I switched back to an Xfinity router, I was able to connect but not that I am on a xFi, I can't connect using the hotspot like I could before.  (I used to have Xfinity router, switched to personally owned router and now back with xFi due to SLOWNESS with personal router...hmmm, wonder why that happens?!)  TYIA

100% my 'hotfix' is dead. There's no reason a expensive product should be so difficult, if the new models are still experiencing this issue, please let me know.

This was tagged by fitbit almost 4 months after it didn't work anymore just FYI. And that was awhile ago.

The "secure link" process is trash. It actually let's people piggyback onto your network easily. To the point where my 17 Y/O neighbor thought himself a "hacker".... Google legit cached all his data when he turned my home speaker up to 100 at 1am and then continued for 2 days terrorizing my 18 yo cat while I was at work. I almost went over and slapped him myself.

Instead, I found his car on social media and left a note. They moved a few weeks later and I hope that little poop learned a lesson.

Hi cpv6212,

Are you still able to use your hot spot to sync the scale.  I have been unsuccessful in doing this and wanted to see if you are still able to.

You have to change your wifi settings in XFi to 2.4Mbps. The default,
faster setting on the Xfi is 5.4Mbps which is NOT supported by the Aria
scale. This is also true of other smart devices. Once you connect, you can
set your XFi back to 5.4.

Good luck

That should work... but my xfinity router did not allow me to change to 2.4Mbps.

It was greyed out.  I did call COMCAST, and they could change it for me on their side...

But I did not want to leave it at that setting for the Aria scale..

I no longer have a xfinity (rented) router.  I have purchased my own router.

It could also be that my (rented router) was older model that did allow me to make this change... Maybe the newer (rented) router allow you to change this setting.

Hi Stouff:

I have updated my scale from old Aria to EufyLife smart scale.

It allows me to sync to FITBIT too.

I still have my old ARIA scale...  I can try to verify ...if this old ARIA scale is able to sync via my previous posted solution...

I will try it today.

After you connect your Aria using 2.4Mbps, you change your wifi router back
to 5Mbps. The Aria just needs the lower speed for set up. By the way, I
found this solution when I had an XFi. I think it was posted on the Xfinity
Community website. I ditched the XFi for many reasons and bought my own
router used.

Hi cpv6212,

Thanks for this information.  I never had trouble when I used my own personally owned router, it only happens when using an Xfinity router but I am been completely unsuccessful in getting it connected to XFi (with only 2.4 active) and have also been unable to connect using my phone as a hotspot which is what I did previously when I had an Xfinity owned router.  Just frustrating to own this scale and have to manually log into the fitbit app and add the weight from the scale every day.

I agree--it's inconvenient and not worth it without the scale network
updates. Correction on past responses wifi is in GHz, not Mbps. I was
working on some other networking stuff. Glad you resolved your issue.

My Xfinity 2.4GHz connection is 802.11 b/g/n and I still get the WIFI ERR, so that's not it.

Swap to.. EufyLife smart scale..

Cheaper and works with Fitbit application.

I threw my Aria scale in trash.  Not worth the aggravation.

Issue is with scale and their brutal setup process and lack of interest in helping us. There are posts on this issue that go WAY back..

I invested way too much time on this scale .  This in not xfinity issue..

I work in the  IT area  for over 20 years and I know how trouble shoot.

I like my new scale!

Good luck going down this rabbit hole.
