Aria Wifi Error Ever Fixed?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Have they ever released or fixe the issue with the Aria not being able to connect to wifi on routers running 802.11n, because the Aria only being able to connect to the 802.11b networks is to put it bluntly f***ing ignorant especially since most the routers with the higher speeds now have to run on one of the other protocols. I just upgraded and now this scale is completely useless. Fitbits technology is just becoming trash with the fact they haven't adopted anything since releasing it and fail to adequately maintain updates on it so everything is compatible.

Unfortunately fitbit's fix to this is to release the Aria 2 which does support more modern protocols. Now that is released I doubt very much they will update the original Aria.

@Crissie2389 It's great to see you in our Fitbit Community! So sorry to hear that your Aria scale is experiencing syncing issues due to a WiFi ERR message. I would like to follow up and would like to know if your Aria is still unable to connect with your WiFi or if the issue got fixed since I'll be happy to follow up and help you accordingly.

@SteveH Thank you very much for your help my friend!

Following this thread . . . .my Aria stopped synching when we got a new router, and doesn't want to let me reset to my new router. Following the directions, I can get it to the point of showing the Aria network on my phone or tablet, but the Aria network won't connect because - wait for it - it still tries to find the old network and password. So I seem to be stuck in the endless loop of trying to get it to completely reset and it simply won't.

I have the same issue. Had to get a new modem and my Aria will not sync. Keep getting the WiFi Error. Very frustrating.

Juan, no it is not. First, you want me to follow a 26-step process? Start by telling me in detail how to set up a guest network on my router. Mrgunn's 26-step process is complicated and I am not technologically savvy.

I can get my Aria to the setup active mode. Now what? I can get into the process on my phone and the Aria network shows up, but when I try to use it, it says not connected to internet. Again, it thinks it is connected to my OLD network, and isn't looking for the new one?  HOW DO I RESET THE NETWORK?

Go to fitbit scale setup and follow the steps, www.fitbit.com/scale/setup/start. Also.....I'm not sure if this will help with everyone's issue, but it's worth mentioning. I received this advice from another fitbit member. I have the Aria. The Aria does not recognize the newer 5G networks. I have a new wifi network  and I couldn't get my Aria to switch from the old network to the new. I kept getting the error message...could not connect. My wifi has the option of 5G or 2G and I was using 5G. The Aria would not connect using 5G. It was recommended that I switch to 2G. When I switched, it connected immediately. After the process was complete, I went back to my 5G and everything works.

I have been trying for hours. I just tried switching to 2.4 and it didn't work either. My scale is only a year old. Why should I have to pay another $100 for a new one???

Thanks for the post. I tried switching to the 2.4 g and also changing the protocol to th 802.11 g/n as suggested but neither worked. Still get the Wifi Err message. Fitbit needs to develop a patch to correct this problem with the Aria.

This is the response that fitbit gave me, to correct this problem. It’s crazy that this is such an ordeal!! Good luck!!

-If you're still having issues setting up your Aria, we'd like to let you know that we've noticed that the error you are encountering indicates that the scale has been unable to communicate with your router. The most common reasons for this are:

- The network password has been entered incorrectly
- The router's configuration is not properly configured to allow for connection with the Aria

If you haven't done so, please verify that your router's password is correct, and that your router has these requirements:

- Wireless 802.11b (Note: most routers are capable of 802.11b, but not necessarily configured this way). We recommend contacting your internet service provider to make this change
- WEP/WPA/WPA2 personal security
- Automatic (DHCP) IP setup (static IP configuration not supported)

Due to the new WiFi, you'll need to repeat the setup process to reconnect the Aria to your wireless network. After you've confirmed your router is properly configured, please set up your scale by proceeding through either of the setup methods detailed at:
Set up video at https://www.youtube.com/embed/D7Q5FvHHPJo
Set up instructions http://bit.ly/aria_setup When you reach the step that asks you to place the scale in ""SETUP ACTIVE"" mode, please follow the steps below:

1. Remove a battery from the scale, and wait at least ten seconds before reinserting it
2. Your scale should briefly show your previous network name, and will then display ""TAP TO CHANGE""
3. When you see the word ""TAP"" appear on the display, press down firmly and briefly on the scale's two bottom corners. (Please note that the scale's sensors are located in the lower two corners of the scale, and if you gets a weight or the display turns off, that means that you pressed too late or too long)

4. Your scale's display should go blank for a moment, then read ""SETUP ACTIVE""
5. At this point you may continue with the on-screen instructions to set up your scale with your new network

If the scale's display goes blank or shows weight measurement information during these steps, you will need to remove a battery and return to Step 3 to try again. Once the scale reads “Setup Active,” you can proceed through the rest of Aria setup as normal.

If after the above you're unable to connect your Aria, please let us know if your router is already configured with the correct protocol and please provide a photo of your Fitbit Aria's model and serial number located in the battery compartment.

Thanks Julie!  I had tried this while using the online chat with customer support a few days ago but it crashed my network and I gave up.  I thought I would give it another try after reading your post, and it actually worked this time!!!  I know I have run the setup at least 50 times since we changed our router.  I'm glad it finally worked.  Thanks again!

@dphebus I'm so glad it worked this time!!! Happy that I could help!

Yes, I was on the phone with fitbit "support" also for this issue. no 802.11b anymore. but my ipad 1st generations also only run on 2.4gbit speed connection and they work on xfinity's latest router just fine. fitbit "support" told me to log into to network gateway and look for 80211b but I only have 802.11g/n and 802.11n. so fitbit "support" hung up on me. 3 times. 4th time just said hey you had a few good years with the scale what are you complaining about. I said I wouldn't have purchased the scale if the wifi wasn't gonna work in a few years.

They said ha ha we stole your money for a device that was obsolete ha ha you are sol and we don't care ha ha ha.

Who on earth purchases a scale they can only use for 2 years? had I known I would never have purchased the stupid thing. what a rip of from the "front-runner" of tracking devices. What a scam!

Why the he** would I buy a second scale when the first one only worked for 2 years. trash. a complete rip off and the company couldn't care less.

Because Fitbit couldn't care less that they stole our money for a junk product and now they want you to spend another $100 for what? another year? who buys a $100 scale in the first place - i did - joke on me - and they really think we are going to fall for it again and let them steal another $100 from us. No way fitbit scammers.

not true doesn't work because fitbit cannot understand modern technology wifi

I’ve been trying for weeks to connect my original aria to new router. Today I got to what I thought was the end but no, I’m stuck at the final step with the error message. What a waste of money these scales are. I can’t acford to upgrade to the newer scales and these won’t even come out of set up mode! I’ve not been able to sync since October but could at least weigh myself, now even that is impossible

Dont understand the complex fixes, how do I change to 2G?  If I ever get these working, which I doubt will happen, the battery will be flat after the amount of time I’ve had to spend trying to connect. Theory of the Fitbit range was good but fails to achieve its intentions. Very disappointed 😞

@beccah7 I'm sorry for the late response. I'm also sorry about the experience you had with your Aria scale since it's no longer under warranty. I know how frustrating this is for you. I appreciate your feedback and comments since this helps us to keep improving.

@Toddi1 Welcome to our Fitbit Community! I'm also for the late response too. However, I'd like to follow up on and would like to know if the issue persists or if your Aria could connect to your network.

See you later!

I ended up tossing mine. What a waste of time, energy, and (unfortunately) money.
