I have had my Aria for 18 months or so. Almost a year ago it stopped being able to connect via wifi. I tried a million things and nothing worked. So I gave up. But at least I could weigh myself every day and log the results manually. THe batteries finally got too low and so I changed them .Now I cannot set up anything. It wants to me to go through set up, but of course that puppy stopped working long ago. SO now I have no scale at all. Does anyone have a solution to just get the **ahem** thing working like a scale that has fresh batteries added. I love that FIt BIt had a great IPO recently and all the lovely thank you notes from the leadership. Maybe they can use the investor dollars to actually update unreliable software and hire more people on the customer services desk to help frustrated users.

@wildfern It's great to see you in the Community! So sorry to hear that your Aria scale is unresponsive even though you have replaced the batteries. Since this didn't work, my best advice is to contact our Customer Support team so they can investigate further and get this issue sorted out.
@2pupswalker I'm so glad to hear that our Support team replaced the defective unit with a new Aria. Thanks for keeping the update posted here. Hope you enjoy your new scale and keep achieving your goals.
If more questions arise, I'll be around my friends!

This is a worthless product. I had the same experience. Since my original batteries died, it has been dead. Nothing works. I've tried multiple types of batteries and went through the steps of removing a battery for 10 seconds. This is a total waste of hard-earned money since it only lasts as long as the first set of batteries. I refuse to repurchase from this company, so I will be researching other brands.

I just got off the phone with customer support for the same issue. I changed the batteries and it no longer works. They said I was out of warranty, so no replacement. I'm either changing brands or I'm going back to a low-tech scale.
A scale should last a long time - not only two years and break when you need to change the batteries. Disposable product.
I have been a fitbit supporter and cheerleader for a long time. I'm very disappointed.

I had the same experience and received no help from ARIA/fitbit techs. I still find my One to be very useful so I don't reject all their products--but the higher the price the more suspect the product to me.

Did you ever get your aria sorted as I'm having the same issue?

I had this problem too, which I successfully resolved...
I replaced the batteries with some zinc chloride-based Panasonic batteries that were designed for low-powered devices. The scales powered up and would weigh but they wouldn't connect to the wireless nor sync. I then replaced these batteries with four, alkaline-based (the original batteries that came with the scale were alkaline batteries) Duracell ultra-power batteries. I then had to go through the process to reconnect the scales to my wifi here: -
https://www.fitbit.com/scale/setup/start
And... voila! I weighed myself five times to calibrate the scales again and every time, it sync'd with my account. I would hazard a guess that nothing but high-powered, good quality batteries are required to power the wireless adapter in the scales. While it still functions to some degree with lower-powered batteries, the functionality is reduced. I've seen this behaviour in other battery-powered wireless devices.
Hope this post helps someone!

i have the same problem. Worked for a year and when it was time to change the battery, it doesn’t sync anymore. I wish Fitbit Customer Service will read this post and escalate the problem to corporate and DO A RECALL so they can improve their products.
I own 4 Fitbit watch and bought a surge for my husband and he hated it after 3 months he used it, my Fitbit scale doesn’t work.
Fitbit Corporate - PLEASE CONSIDER OUR REQUEST TO RECALL FITBIT SCALE THAT ARE NOT WORKING AS IT SHOULD BE. Thank you.

A tip for others when replacing batteries:
Replace only one battery at a time and do it very quickly.
Take one out -stick the other one in so it only loses power for 2 or 3 seconds.
That way it will not require a new SETUP.
Remember, they tell you when you want to do a new setup to leave the batteries out for 10 or 15 seconds. Doing that will mean that it loses its memory of the last setup.
