Aria setup difficulty

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I'm more than IT literate - really - but it's been ten years since I've been this frustrated by poor software and flawed approach when trying to set up a device. I've now tried to set up my Aria scales on my ipad four or five times and all it succeeds in doing is hanging my router. So I've downloaded the scales connect app to my laptop but the software is just appalling - displaying a tiny box that's hard to interact with and content that extends beyond the viewport and is inaccessible on Win 10 making it impossible to complete. Really just appalling. I have now given up - returning my scales, which look great by the way, as a result of unforgivably awful user experience trying to connect them (this should be a push button job for crying out loud).

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Mark-One Smiley Very Happy! I'm so sorry to hear about the inconveniences you've been having with your Aria Scale.

I'd would like to direct you to an alternate method which should allow you to connect your scale. To use this method, watch the video at https://www.youtube.com/embed/D7Q5FvHHPJo or use the web-based method steps at this link:http://fitbit.link/rtyew

If you use a computer for this procedure, you will need to switch Wi-Fi networks on your computer when prompted to do so. Please ensure that your computer is not physically plugged into the router during setup.

If you use a smartphone or tablet for this procedure, the scale will automatically sync to your Fitbit account once the Aria has been set up. Your account can be viewed on any computer, and your mobile device is not needed after the setup process is complete.

If you encounter difficulty during this process, we recommend clearing your browser's cache and cookies, turning your router off for 30 seconds, turning your router back on, and attempting setup again. If you're still unable to connect your Aria.

I'm very sorry to hear about the inconveniences you had with your Aria my friend @mtmissy! I'd like to clarify if the Aria is now properly linked to your account? Your post makes to think yes, but also makes me to think no.

I'll be around!

It is NOT set up. I tried for hours but was too busy yesterday to even try
again. I'm volunteering at my kids school for field day today so todays a
no go as well. I'll probably attempt one more time and then return it. So
far it is not user friendly!

I did contact support. They basically had me run through the exact same
thing I had been doing and then told me it had to be MY network.

Well @mtmissy as they may have explained you, the Aria connects to your wireless home network and works with any Wi-Fi router that uses the following standards:

  • 802.11b frequency setting.
  • WEP / WPA / WPA2 personal security.
  • Automatic (DHCP) IP setup (static IP configuration are not supported).

Your SSID and password should only contain alphanumeric characters (e.g. A-Z, 0-9). If you experience failures to connect to a network that uses special characters, change the name of the network to only use alphanumeric characters, and try to connect again.

I agree, I am pretty tech savvy and this is probably the hardest thing to get set up, the software is terrible. I've literally been trying to connect this scale to my router for almost an hour....this is going back tomorrow!

It really is a nightmare. I have tried at least 20 times and nothing. Their app is useless and you have to go thru countless numbers of sceens. Will not buy anymore of their crappy products

Links are dead

I had my stake of the nightmares of my new Aria setup.

Each time, my mac is not finding Aria Wifi link to set up.

The thing finally worked for me is to change to the BRAND NEW BATTERIES.

In other words, Aria needs super power of new batteries to air out its wifi signals so that mac can see it.

If someone is at the dead end of their setup struggle, step out and get brand new batteries and try(I dont refund the batteries cost if this doesnt work 🙂 . ).

Scale: Aria 2 - Upgrade from Aria
Tracker: Sense from Versa 2 from Charge 3 from Alta

It’s complete garbage. I’ve bought $5 WiFi enabled items off eBay which are more reliable. Like you said this reminds me of the early days of the internet when connections were unreliable and a nightmare to setup. Shame on Fitbit for releasing such garbage, more interested in their bottom line than happy customers. I’ll take my business elsewhere from now

the youtube clip isn't there. my scales are stuffed. they now only show pounds and not kg any more. I cannot get it out of setup active mode. the rubbish bin out the front of the house is looking the best option now. what a pain!
