Hi there,
I have just set up my Aria to wifi for the first time which was successful, but now receieve the following messages:
Hi 🙂
Sensing
Step off
Step off
Step off
Step off
Err
I have removed all batteries for a short period and also am only attempting this on a hard surface. All to no avail.
Are there any other options to get this working?
Thanks in advance.

As a scale, it's been working fine. It connects to my phone via Bluetooth without a problem. And its app uploads to my Fitbit account. But as you can see here, it's pretty evident that the body fat determination is nowhere near as accurate as the Aria's was. Feb 18th is the day the Aria died and I got the Renpho.
I don't care much about the body fat value, so for me, it's not a dealbreaker. It is something anyone considering it should be aware of, though.

Honestly, after reading that multiple people have the same issue and there hasn't been any resolution from Fitbit I purchased Withings Body+
(https://www.withings.com/cz/en/body-plus) you can have it sync with your fitbit account.

I tried this workaround and nothing. I also replaced the batteries. It’s on a hard surface. Please tell me how to fix this very expensive scale.

Hi Juan Jo,
I have tried above "weighing yourself 5 times in a row" and this did not solve the issue.
What next - I am not throwing this expensive scale to the trash

I finally threw it out!
Unreal!
They didn’t even offer
Me a credit towards another Fitbit product… it still would be a nice gesture on fit bit supports part!

Important to move the scale on a hard surface close to the Wifi
1. Take batteries out, wait 20 seconds and repeat until it goes into setup mode
2. Follow instructions at https://www.fitbit.com/scale/setup/start (sometimes need to start at step 1 again if it gets stuck in the process)
3. Once it finally completes setup, if you get the step off error, I pick up the scale, keep it horizontal and then flick it vertical and back to horizontal a few times (like a type of shake) and put it back down. Stand on it, and then it seems to work.
I can’t explain why, but it has been the only method that has ended up working for me each time.
Agree with others though - this shouldn’t happen.
Kind regards,
Jo Holland

Hi Jo,
I have tried at least 20 times and can't get my scale into setup mode.
Tried batteries out anywhere from 5 to 30 seconds.
Is there no reset button?
Should I try setting up on a different WIFI network by tapping when prompted to do so?
Should I remove the scale from my Fitbit profile - if so how do I do this?
Thanks,
Brad

Pull out batteries for MINUTES so the circuit can fully discharge. Then reinsert batteries and it should go into setup mode. (Changing Wi-Fi network also requires set up mode!)

I made sure that I was very close to the wifi for setup. I can’t explain it as I too experience difficulties getting it into setup mode 80/20 of the time.
I also leave the back off the battery compartment when trying to setup as I have never been successful with it on. I know this completely doesn’t makes sense at all, but it has been my experience.
If I experience difficulties like not being able to get it into setup mode even after taking batteries out etc, I give it some horizontal to vertical sharp shakes and try again and it seems to work. Again, unsure of why.
Agree how frustrating it is. Sometimes I have had to give up and try the next day. Each time as I am about to give up and buy something else, it has a funny knack of working on my last attempt.
Once I have it working I make sure to keep it completely horizontal and have someone else lift it as I put the battery cover back on and gently return to the place where it lives.
Kind regards,
Jo Holland

Ho Jo,
I also received a suggestion from Fitbit support on this issue.
I simply taped the bottom corners of the scale and it switched to setup mode.
Now I have a new problem
I can't get the scale to connect to my Wi-Fi.
I get the same message over and over - "Internet not available"
This while my cell phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi
I tried rebooting my phone and tried rebooting the Wi-Fi router - nothing seems to work.
Your suggestions please
Thanks,
Brad

Once in setup mode, you will need to connect to your phone directly to your scale from your phone via WIFI.
Once in setup mode follow instructions at https://www.fitbit.com/scale/setup/start
When prompted you will need to swap your phones current WIFI connection to the wifi with the name ARIA in it.
Then it takes a little patience to let it slowly do it thing. Let me know how you go with it all!
Kind regards,
Jo Holland

Just clarifying that when you go to wifi in your phone settings, do you see a wifi called aria something or other?

Yes - I see AriaD803ED - but my phone will not connect to this
It goes thru the process of "Checking the quality of your internet connection"
Then a message comes up that says "Internet may not be available" and gives me a choice to "keep wi-fi connection" or "disconnect"
If I select keep the result is that it shows "Connected without Internet"
The wireless router is 5 feet away from me and my other devices connect without issue
?????

https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Aria-Scales/Aria-setup-issues/m-p/331562/highlight/true#M3204
“Remember that either process involves disconnecting from your network and connecting directly to the Aria - at this point you will have no internet connection, and will effectively "introduce" the scale to your wireless router. Once that process is completed, your scale should be able to sync.
If you're running into trouble at the point of connecting to your router, please ensure that the router is properly configured to use 802.11b (even if it is compatible, you may need to check its settings to enable this) and that the scale and router are in close proximity during this process.”
“That first link will detail two separate setup methods - the first involves the Fitbit downloadable setup software, and should be the easiest way to get setup. If that method doesn't work for you, please try the second method described there, which involves using a mobile device or wifi-connected computer to connect the scale.”
Kind regards,
Jo Holland

I'm having the same issue. Batteries died, replaced them, and now keep getting err. I've stepped on 5 times, taken Batteries out for 15 seconds, factory reset, and nothing seems to work!
