Aria shows a "Step Off" error loop

It seems like this is a common issue but posting just to see if there is anything else I can do before switching to another brand of scale. I've had my Aria for at least 3 years and have loved it, recommended it to others, no trouble setting it up, etc. And after a recent battery change it is doing the "Step off....sensing...thinking" forever. It still sometimes weighs appropriately and still sometimes syncs fine but most of the time it's just in this cycle which is draining the batteries. Yes I have taken the batteries out to reset it, yes I have done a recalibration, yes I'm barefoot and on hard tile floor, it's not getting wet or near moisture as it's around the corner from my shower/sink. Not sure what else to do or if I can be forwarded to support. Feeling irritated as I am usually very loyal to fitbit but don't want to have to buy a new scale for no reason when this literally worked fine for years and suddenly stopped after a battery change.

I just replaced my Aria with a Withings Body+ after the same issues. In reading it looks like an issue with the springs in the feet of the scale that Fitbit refuses to acknowledge as a problem. I started storing the scale on its side so that it wouldn't start the loop but then started getting really inconsistent wright's. My scale didn't even last 2 years. I didn't bother reaching out to Fitbit because my Charge 3 cracked in the corner after a couple months, with no notable impact. Fitbit blamed me and offered a whopping free shipping on a replacement. The forums are filled with customers with the same issues and it seems Fitbit is really not interested in producing a quality product that they'll stand behind. Thus, I will never buy Fitbit again, and I started with my Withings and I LOVE this scale, highly recommend!
