How does Aria 2 actually use Bluetooth

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I owned an Aria and had major challenges with it not sync’ing to wifi until I eventually gave up on it and went back to normal scales.  Then when the Aria 2 came out I decided to get it and try again as it has Wifi AND Bluetooth support.  However now a couple of months in the Aria 2 is starting to report wifi connection issues like the Aria and doesn’t appear to be utilising Bluetooth at all! Not sure what I’m missing here but the Aria 2 doesn’t appear to use Bluetooth at least in the way I expected it might.  Even with my iPhone in the bathroom with a strong mobile connection and Bluetooth enabled on it and the Aria 2 still wants to try and connect via wifi and often fails :-(.  Not sure if I’ve miss understood how the Aria 2 uses Bluetooth but can someone please explain?

Hello @Shwashbuckle and a warm welcome.  The Aria 2 uses your wi-fi to sync the weight data to your account on Fitbit's servers.  The Bluetooth connection is used for adding the scale to your account and changing the wi-fi settings when needed.  Weights do not sync by Bluetooth.

I hope this clear up any confusion.

When your weights don't sync via wi-fi, do you get an error message?  If your wi-fi signal strong in the room where you have your scale?

Thanks LZeeW, that’s disappointing to hear.  I guess I was hopeful that Fitbit had added Bluetooth support for weight sync’ing due to all the issues with the Aria model.  Let’s face it the bathroom, where I would assume most people would set their Aria or Aria 2 up in, is also probably most likely to one of the rooms in a house with the weakest wifi signal strength.  The Aria and now the Aria 2 started out well but for me but as I start to use them more I start to get wifi connection issues more often than not.  Was really hoping the Aria 2 had solved this by also using Bluetooth for weight sync’ing, would have been a really cool way to solve the wifi signal strength issue imo.
