Has anyone experienced wildly inconsistent weight readings during a single weigh-in? Each morning when I weigh, I usually start with a reading that’s higher. In my quest to get three consecutive readings that are the same, the readings start to trend downward, and by as much as 0.6 pound from the first reading.
But here’s the kicker. I step back on to get another reading as soon as I get the check mark but before the scale goes back into sleep mode. If I let the scale go back into sleep mode, when I step back on the next time, I will get the prompt to step off so that the reading can display. And every time this happens the reading will be heavier - usually around the same as first reading that was previously recorded.
So what’s the guidance here? It can take several readings before I get three consecutive that are the same. See attached photo.
Should we just go with the first reading and walk away for the day?
Frustrated ...

As long as you are not moving the scale around, I would just go with the 1st reading. If you are moving it, it can take 3+ weigh-ins to calibrate.
This is not a medical grade quality scale and I don't consider a max swing of .6 pounds an issue.

Nope, I’m not moving it around. But the simple fact that it almost always starts to give lighter readings immediately after the first one raises the question on which reading to trust more - the first one or the fifth or sixth (or whenever it settles into a consistent reading)?

I was weighed in at 9 lbs less last night and physically know I am losing weight. This morning it weighed me at my old weight and BF? So I really don’t think this scale is working.

I had an 8 pound increase on my scale also. the only thing I did was sleep for 8 hours and gained 8 pounds? I think something is wrong with the scale. I have had it for about 6 years and this is the first time I have seen this kind of inconsistency with it.

I’ve never had anything like that happen before. Unless you went supremely overboard on calories that day and/or retained a lot of water, I just don’t see how that’s possible ...

To be perfectly clear, weighed myself - went to bed - woke up - weighed myself again - 8 pounds heavier.
Negative on the calories unless I somehow started binge eating in my sleep. To retain water, one would have had to have the water present to begin with. There is no way to spontaneously adsorb a gallon of water from the atmosphere overnight.
I have been using this scale the same way for 6 years so it's not like I am doing anything different.I like the scale very much and it seems to be working good now, I think it was just an anomaly. This is the first time I have ever had this accuracy problem so I would just be wary of large weight changes. As far as my experience with it, it is normal to have slight differences such as 0.2 to 0.4 difference between successive measurements.
