The dreaded Err message

Suddenly (it was fine last weekend) our Aria is displaying Err after Thinking

has anyone found any fox for this? other (old) posts I’ve read seem to indicate that this means the scale is dead

 thanks

Aria scales can show many error messages which can determine what troubleshooting needs to be done. What exactly does the error message say?

It just says “Err” - nothing else. Then shuts off

Which version Aria do you have: the original, Aria  2, or Aria Air?

Apologies

It’s the original Aria. It’s been brilliant - until now 😢😢

Sounds like a re-calibration issue, I would advise following the advice by @JuanJoFitbit in this thread to start.

Hmmm

I tried removing the batteries and it makes no difference

So I can’t weigh 5 times as it only ever says “Err” and doesn’t actually weigh

Have you tried doing a soft reset (by pressing the button in the back) as well as a hard reset (by removing the batteries)?

Yep

Now, even when I put NEW batteries in, I get a low battery warning

So it’s gone in the bin 😡😡😡

How long have you had the device?  It shouldn't be acting like this.

Good question

Probably well over 10 years…..

When FitBit did their own support

If you owned the product for 10 years, it's likely out of warranty to replace.  If you're in the US, I think you're limited to a one year warranty.  I would contact Support (link is at the bottom of the page), with the understanding that options for replacement might be slim.

You could ask them to assist you with running a battery diagnositc test to find out what else can be done.

As you say it’s well out of warranty

And my experience of Fitbit support these days is that they’re no help whatsoever

So I replaced it (with another brand entirely)
